The Landbergstraat is to be reconstructed underground as well as aboveground. The sewers and drainage network is to be replaced, and cables and pipes are to be replaced or moved. The street will also get a new look, with new paving, more greenery, a separate footpath and new lighting. Construction will start on Monday 5 June, and is expected to go on until the beginning of October. This will affect access to the surrounding buildings and facilities.

Accessibility and schedule
The work will be carried out in phases in such a way that buildings and facilities on the street will remain accessible. Local diversions and accessibility will change a number of times during the works but those changes will be clearly indicated.

The intention is for the Landbergstraat to be back in use before the start of the new academic year (September). The final phase of constructions will go on until the end of October but these works, such as the installation of lighting and the planting of trees and other greenery, will cause very little disruption if any.

Sustainability
TU Delft is striving for a CO2-neutral, circular and climate-adaptive campus, while also focusing on improving biodiversity and quality of life. The reconstruction of the Landbergstraat will further this cause. For instance, the new sewers and drainage network has been specifically designed for short heavy rain showers, which are becoming increasingly frequent due to climate change. The new street will also be greener: there will be green façades, as well as a green strip down the middle of the street, containing trees and low vegetation. This green strip will also be used to harvest rainwater, while the trees will provide shade in hot weather. The lighting will be updated to meet the standard of TU Delft: LED lighting. The lamp posts along the Jaffalaan and on the parking area between the TPM faculty and the international childcare centre will be replaced as well. Finally, the pavers from the old street will be reused at the terminal for tram line 19 that is to be built next to P2.

Reconstructie Landbergstraat

De Landbergstraat wordt zowel ondergronds als bovengronds opnieuw ingericht. De riolering wordt vervangen en kabels en leidingen worden vervangen of verlegd. De straat gaat er bovendien anders uit zien met nieuwe bestrating, meer groen, een aparte voetgangersstrook en nieuwe verlichting. De werkzaamheden starten maandag 5 juni, duren naar verwachting tot begin oktober en hebben gevolgen voor de bereikbaarheid van de omliggende gebouwen en voorzieningen.

Bereikbaarheid en planning
De werkzaamheden worden in verschillende fasen uitgevoerd, dusdanig dat de gebouwen en voorzieningen aan de straat bereikbaar zijn. Omleidingen en toegankelijkheid zullen een aantal keer wisselen, maar worden terplekke duidelijk aangegeven.

Het is de bedoeling dat de Landbergstraat vóór de start van het nieuwe collegejaar (september) weer in gebruik is. Wel vinden er tot en met oktober nog afrondende werkzaamheden plaats, maar die veroorzaken weinig tot geen hinder. Denk hierbij aan plaatsing van de verlichting en het planten van  bomen en ander groen.

Duurzaamheid
De TU Delft werkt toe naar een CO2-neutrale, circulaire en klimaatadaptieve campus met aandacht voor verbetering van de biodiversiteit en leefkwaliteit. De reconstructie van de Landbergstraat draagt hieraan bij. Zo is de riolering berekend op korte hevige buien, die door klimaatverandering steeds vaker voorkomen. Daarnaast wordt de nieuwe straat groener: er komen groene gevels en in het midden komt een groenstrook met bomen en lage beplanting. Deze groenstrook dient ook als opvang voor regenwater en de bomen zorgen voor schaduw en dus verkoeling bij warm weer. De verlichting wordt aangepast naar de standaard van de TU Delft: LED-verlichting. Ook de lichtmasten langs de Jaffalaan en op het parkeerterrein tussen de faculteit TBM en het internationaal kind centrum worden vervangen. Tot slot worden de klinkers van de oude straat hergebruikt bij het eindpunt van tramlijn 19 dat bij P2 wordt gerealiseerd. 

During the exam period TU Delft facilitates extra opening hours to study at the Fellowship. The Library, Echo and Pulse are also available with regular opening hours from 08:00AM to 00:00AM, also in the weekends.

Programma
Het programma start om 17.30 uur, met inloop vanaf 17.15 uur in Lijm & Cultuur – Chemie zaal (Rotterdamseweg 272 in Delft). Je wordt bijgepraat over de plannen en er is veel ruimte om vragen te stellen, zowel plenair als in kleine groepen. We sluiten het programma af met een gezamenlijke informeel buffet (vlees, vegetarisch, vegan) en eindigen rond 20.00 uur. De voertaal op de bijeenkomst is Engels.

In this series of interviews students from different faculties share their personal story about studying at TU Delft in front of the camera. Trying to master a new skill or understand complex material can lead to setbacks, which are a natural part of the learning process. It is increasingly common for students to feel stressed, anxious and under pressure when they face tight deadlines and high expectations. The UNLOCKING series acknowledges that these challenges are part of the learning process and offers inspiration to embrace them.

UNLOCKING… Students of TU Delft is a series by and for students, originally initiated by the ‘Study Climate’ programme of TU Delft.

Following a successful pilot at 3mE last autumn, we are proud to announce the campaign of the UNLOCKING TPM STUDENTS series. Four authentic videos by and for students have been created. 10 students (bachelor, master, national and international) from the faculty of TPM have been willing to talk about their experiences of student life on camera.

Topics that are discussed are for example: Experiencing stress and dealing with it, setbacks (“failing forward”), study and performance pressure, ambitions and challenges (“reaching the top”), working together, making choices, loneliness, social media use (online vs offline life), study choice, etc.

UNLOCKING TPM STUDENTS

Hoe ervaren jouw medestudenten het studeren aan de TU Delft? Wat zijn hun doelen, drijfveren en ambities? En hoe gaan ze ermee om als ze ergens tegenaanlopen of het anders loopt dan ze hadden verwacht? Wat zijn daarin hun geleerde lessen?

Being a student is more than studying.

In deze interviewreeks delen studenten van verschillende faculteiten voor de camera hun persoonlijke verhaal over studeren aan de TU Delft. Proberen een nieuwe vaardigheid onder de knie te krijgen of complexe stof te begrijpen kan leiden tot tegenslagen, die een natuurlijk onderdeel zijn van het leerproces. Het komt steeds vaker voor dat studenten zich gestrest, angstig en onder druk voelen als ze geconfronteerd worden met strakke deadlines en hoge verwachtingen. De UNLOCKING serie erkent dat deze uitdagingen deel uitmaken van het leerproces en biedt inspiratie om ze te omarmen.

UNLOCKING… Students of TU Delft is een videoreeks van en voor studenten, oorspronkelijk geïnitieerd door het TU Delft ‘Study Climate’ programma.

Na een succesvolle pilot bij 3mE afgelopen najaar kunnen we met trots de campagne van de reeks UNLOCKING TPM STUDENTS aankondigen. Knowledge security is a subject where complex choices have to be made, that can have a significant impact on our university and its scientists. We will engage in a conversation on the topic with Tim van der Hagen (Rector Magnificus and chair of the EB), Cynthia Liem (Associate Professor and member of the Integrity Board) and Peter Weijland (Programme director Knowledge security). The next phase in reducing single-use plastic cups and trays on campus will start on 1 July. The first step was taken on 6 February with the introduction of the Billie Cup at staffed coffee points. In accordance with the European directive, disposable cups will no longer be available free of charge at unmanned coffee points from 1 July onwards. This will make a significant contribution to our sustainability ambition of being CO2-neutral, circular and climate adaptive by 2030. 

What does this mean for you from 1 July?
We ask you to please use a reusable cup for all on-campus coffee machines. In public areas, you will find some coffee machines (mainly used by students) where you will have a choice between a reusable cup or, for a fee, a disposable cup. For banqueting, only porcelain will be available as disposable cups will no longer be offered.

Vanaf 1 juli: terugdringen plastic wegwerpbekers op de campus

Vanaf 1 juli start de volgende fase in het terugdringen van plastic wegwerpbekers en -bakjes op onze campus. Op 6 februari is de eerste stap gezet met de introductie van de Billie Cup op bemande koffiepunten. Conform de Europese richtlijn zijn vanaf 1 juli wegwerpbekers niet meer gratis beschikbaar bij onbemande koffiepunten. Dit gaat een aanzienlijke bijdrage leveren aan onze duurzaamheidsambitie om in 2030 CO2-neutraal, circulair en klimaatadaptief te zijn.
 
Wat betekent dit voor jou vanaf 1 juli?
Bij elke warme drankenautomaat op de campus vragen we je om een herbruikbare beker te gebruiken. In de zogenaamde koffieautomaten voor studenten (in de openbare ruimtes) kun je kiezen: een herbruikbare beker of tegen betaling een wegwerpbeker. Bij  catering worden geen wegwerpbekers meer aangeboden, alleen nog porselein.

The results of the 2023 National Student Survey (NSE) are in. Over 289.000 students at universities and universities of applied sciences were asked what they thought of their current course programmes and institutions.

The results reveal that 79% of the students who participated are satisfied with the overall atmosphere of their course programme. Another aspect of their experience in higher education that students judged positively was that of engagement and contact. On this subject, questions were asked about contact with teachers, feeling at home at the institution and giving and receiving feedback.

Of all the subjects covered in the questionnaire, the information provided to students by their institutions was the aspect they were least happy with. 59% of participants indicated they were satisfied with the information they were given; 14% were not satisfied. The general satisfaction of students in higher education remains at a high level, even increasing slightly in 2023 compared to the previous year. 73% of students were happy with the course programme they chose, up from 72% last year.

Resultaten NSE 2023: Studenten meest tevreden over sfeer, minst over informatievoorziening

Ruim 289.000 hbo- en wo-studenten gaven hun mening over de opleiding en onderwijsinstelling waar ze studeren. Uit de resultaten komt naar voren dat 79 procent van de deelnemende studenten tevreden is over de sfeer op hun opleiding. Naast de sfeer worden de onderwerpen uit het onderdeel betrokkenheid en contact goed gewaardeerd. Onder dit thema vallen stellingen over contact met docenten, je thuis voelen bij je opleiding en het geven en krijgen van feedback.

Van alle onderdelen zijn de studenten het minst te spreken over de informatie vanuit de opleiding. 59 procent van de studenten geeft aan tevreden te zijn over dit onderdeel en 14 procent is ontevreden. De algemene tevredenheid onder wo- en hbo-studenten over hun opleiding blijft hoog en is dit jaar zelfs iets gestegen. 73 procent van de studenten is tevreden met de gekozen opleiding, ten opzichte van 72 procent vorig jaar.

In het kader van de verdere aanscherping van onze informatiebeveiliging, vervalt deze service binnenkort. Voorkom verrassingen en schakel vanaf nu om naar je @student.tudelft.nl account.

Automatisch doorsturen van TU Delft e-mail stopt

Per 4 juli a.s. worden e-mails gericht aan je @student.tudelft.nl adres alleen nog afgeleverd in je TU Delft mailbox. Gebruik je deze mailbox al? Dan hoef je niets te doen. Wordt jouw e-mail nu automatisch doorgestuurd naar een ander (privé) e-mailadres? Dan is er actie vereist. Om te zorgen dat je geen enkel bericht van de TU Delft mist, kun je nu zelf alvast omschakelen.

Due to construction works (geothermal energy source drilling) there will be some consequences for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians from Wednesday 24 May onwards.

Closure of parking spaces behind 3mE

The Leeghwaterstraat parking area behind the 3mE faculty is to be closed from Wednesday 24 May and set up as a building site. This means the parking spaces will be definitively unavailable for use because the site will be used for a different purpose once the drilling work has been completed. In the future motorists who need to visit the campus can park in the nearby P5 Rotterdamseweg car park, satnav address: Cornelis Drebbelweg 1. This car park reflects the university’s new parking policy which is based on moving away from numerous individual parking spaces dotted around the campus to having six easy to access parking areas on the campus periphery. This summer, the number of parking spaces on the central part of the campus will be limited because work is going to be taking place at several locations simultaneously. You should travel by bicycle or public transport wherever possible.

Deviation

From Wednesday 24 May onwards Leeghwaterstraat will be closed off near the building site to cars, cyclists and pedestrians. It is expected to remain closed off until mid-November. A deviation is to be created for cyclists and pedestrians. Cars are to be diverted via Rotterdamseweg. Due to work being carried out several other deviations will come into effect on the central part of the campus in addition to this diversion. The deviations will always be clearly indicated.

Werkzaamheden & omleiding

In verband met werkzaamheden (boring geothermiebron) zijn er vanaf woensdag 24 mei gevolgen voor automobilisten, fietsers en wandelaar op de campus.

Afsluiting parkeerplekken achter 3mE

Het parkeerterrein aan de Leeghwaterstraat achter de faculteit 3mE wordt met ingang van woensdag 24 mei afgesloten en als bouwplaats ingericht. Deze parkeerplekken worden daarmee voorgoed buiten gebruik gesteld; na afronding van de boring krijgt dit terrein een andere invulling. Automobilisten met een bestemming op de campus kunnen in het vervolg parkeren in de nabijgelegen parkeergarage P5 Rotterdamseweg, navigatieadres: Cornelis Drebbelweg 1. Deze garage past in het nieuwe parkeerbeleid van de TU Delft met als een van de uitgangspunten: de overgang van vele losse parkeerplekken verspreid over de campus naar zes gemakkelijk te bereiken parkeerlocaties aan de randen van de campus. Het aantal parkeerplekken op campus Midden is deze zomer beperkt doordat er op meerdere plekken tegelijk werkzaamheden plaatsvinden. Kom zoveel mogelijk met de fiets of het OV als dat mogelijk is.

Omleiding

Vanaf woensdag 24 mei wordt de Leeghwaterstraat ter hoogte van het bouwterrein afgesloten voor auto’s, fietsers en voetgangers. Deze afsluiting duurt naar verwachting tot medio november. Fietsers en voetgangers worden ter plekke omgeleid. Auto’s worden omgeleid via de Rotterdamseweg. Behalve deze omleiding zijn er deze zomer meerdere omleidingen op campus Midden van kracht vanwege werkzaamheden. De omleidingen worden overal duidelijk aangegeven.
