Studying in Delft during World War II

The story unfolds in March 1943; students in the Netherlands are faced with the German declaration of loyalty. In order to study, one has to declare loyalty to German regime. Objectors are denied entry to their study and are deported to Germany for forced labour. The difficult question; to sign or not to sign? This history is brought to life at the place where it all happened; the TU Delft.April 2015 - Getekend toneelstuk

‘Getekend’ is a theatre production about students in Delft during the German occupation. The students need to make difficult choices. What if ‘the good’ does not pay off? How far would you go for your study, your love, your fellow students and your homeland? And is signing a crime or an inevitability?

These shows, subtitled in English, take place between the 19th and 23rd of May at the Auditorium. Students and staff from TU Delft are accompanied by a cast of professional actors. Together they portray the students from that time. The music, brought to you by Groover’s Big Band, will take you back to the 40’s.

Nice and fast(er) internet at TU Delft

Imagine our campus without fast and reliable wireless internet. Now relax, because you will never have to live in such a desperate world. The Shared Service Centre IT (SSC IT) team is upgrading all our networks, with or without wires, in the coming two years.

Due to the sharp increase in mobile devices (laptops, smartphones and tablets) in the last couple of years, our need for fast and reliable wireless internet has never been greater. That is why we’re optimizing our network, which will take until 2017. The Aula and TPM faculty have been the lucky first recipients of an improved wireless network, while the IDE faculty will follow this week.

We’re organizing the rollout of faster internet per building. These works may impact the network of the building you’re in, especially while optimizing the wired internet connections. On certain places on campus the TU Delft network will be temporarily unavailable. Of course SSC IT will offer alternatives so that everyone can continue to study hard and/or read Student News.
