Master’s Week (20-23 February 2023)

Are you almost done with your bachelor’s and orientating on a master’s programme? During the Master’s Week, you will get all the information you need to make a conscious choice. Register for the online programme from the 20th until the 22nd and attend an inspiration session on societal themes, in-depth sessions on the MSc programmes and sessions about admission. You can also sign up for the on campus Master’s Market on the 23rd of February and talk to current MSc students about their experiences.

Don’t forget to terminate your enrolment after the final part of your study
Have you completed the final part of your study? Please be aware that you need to send a request to terminate your enrolment through Studielink as it will not be done automatically. When you terminate your enrolment at TU Delft, you are entitled to a refund of one twelfth of the annual tuition fee for each month of the academic year in which you are no longer enrolled, with the exception of termination as from July and August.

Enrolment termination with retroactive effect is not possible.

In de week van 16 januari is de Nationale Studenten Enquête 2023 van start gegaan. Dé mogelijkheid om de TU Delft te laten weten of je tevreden bent met jouw opleiding. De resultaten van de enquête geven ons inzicht over de kwaliteit van het onderwijs en helpen studiekiezers bij het vinden van de opleiding die bij hen past.

Laat je stem horen! De oproep voor de NSE is naar je studentmail gestuurd, ben je deze kwijt? Hier vraag je hem opnieuw op.

From 2024, disposable plastic cups and meal containers are no longer allowed by law if you eat or drink on site at a catering establishment, festival or office. TU Delft is already anticipating this legislation as part of its 2023 Sustainability Programme by moving away from plastic and non-highly recyclable single-use coffee cups starting 6 February, in the Week of the Circular Economy. In its place will be the Billie Cup reusable cup system, initially at the eight staffed coffee corners and later in the year at catering establishments and vending machines.

How does the Billie Cup system work?
The Billie Cup system is very easy. You pay (the first time) a deposit of €1 per Billie Cup. You can keep the Billie Cup or return it after use for a drink token and use it to pick up a new cup next time. There are three sizes (cappuccino, lungo, espresso). When redeeming, these types are interchangeable. In addition to the deposit for a cup, you can also purchase a matching lid of the same material. A lid also costs €1 each, but it is not exchangeable. So you have to wash the lid yourself. The Billie Cup is already used at several universities and colleges, so you can use it at these other locations as well.

Where can I get a Billie Cup?
You can purchase and return the Billie Cup at the eight staffed coffee corners on campus. These are: 3mE Espressobar, ABE Strong, CEG Espressobar by LIT Espresso, Coffee & Bikes, Echo Coffeecorner, EEMCS Espresso Piaggio, Fellowship Foodmarket and Library Coffee-star.

Vending machine
Because of the sizes and light colours of the cups, the Billie Cup can also be used under Maas and Douwe Egberts coffee machines. Colour is important for automatic recognition of the presence of a cup, so you can’t just put any other kind of cup under it. If you want to use your own cup for the coffee machines, make sure it is light in colour and fits under the dispensing system.

In the coming years, we will be working toward a carbon-neutral, circular and climate-adaptive campus, with a focus on improving biodiversity and quality of life. Waste management also falls under this. With the use of the Billie Cup, we realize a reduction in the annual use of six million disposable cups. TU Delft gaat per 6 februari 2023 over op de herbruikbare Billie Cup

Vanaf 2024 zijn plastic wegwerpbekers en -maaltijdverpakkingen bij wet niet meer toegestaan als je ter plaatse in een horecagelegenheid, op een festival of op kantoor eet of drinkt. In het kader van haar Duurzaamheidsprogramma loopt TU Delft vooruit op deze wetgeving door vanaf 6 februari 2023, in de Week van de Circulaire Economie, af te stappen van plastic en niet hoogwaardig recyclebare single-use koffiebekers. Daarvoor in de plaats komt het herbruikbare bekersysteem van Billie Cup, in eerste instantie bij de acht bemande coffeecorners en later in het jaar ook bij de catering en vendingautomaten.

Hoe werkt het Billie Cup-systeem?

Het Billie Cup systeem is heel makkelijk. Je betaalt (de eerste keer) een borg van €1 per Billie Cup. Je kunt de Billie Cup beker houden of na gebruik weer inleveren voor een drinktoken/muntje en daarmee de volgende keer een nieuwe beker ophalen. Er zijn drie maten (cappuccino, lungo, espresso). Bij het inwisselen zijn deze soorten onderling uitwisselbaar. Naast de borg voor een beker, kun je ook een bijpassende deksel aanschaffen van hetzelfde materiaal. Deksels kosten ook €1 per stuk, maar zijn niet inwisselbaar. De deksel moet je dus zelf wassen.

De Billie Cup wordt al op meerdere universiteiten en hogescholen ingezet en je kunt ze dus op deze andere locaties ook gebruiken.

Waar kan ik een Billie Cup krijgen?

Je kunt de Billie Cup aanschaffen en weer inleveren bij de acht bemande horecalocaties op de campus. Dit zijn: 3mE Espressobar, BK Sterk, CiTG Espressobar by LIT Espresso, Coffee & Bikes, Echo Coffeecorner, EWI Espresso Piaggio, Fellowship Foodmarket en Library Coffee-star.

Koffieautomaat

De Billie Cup kan ook gebruikt worden onder de Maas en Douwe Egberts koffieautomaten vanwege de maten en de lichte kleuren van de bekers. Kleur is belangrijk voor de automatische herkenning van de aanwezigheid van een beker, dus je kunt er niet zomaar een ander soort beker onder zetten. Indien je je eigen beker wilt gebruiken voor de koffieautomaten, zorg er dan voor dat deze licht van kleur is en past onder het uitgiftesysteem.

De komende jaren wordt toegewerkt naar een CO₂-neutrale, circulaire en klimaatadaptieve campus, met aandacht voor verbetering van biodiversiteit en leefkwaliteit. Afvalbeheer valt hier ook onder. Met het gebruik van de Billie Cup realiseren we een reductie van het jaarlijks gebruik van zes miljoen wegwerpbekers. TU Delft bedankt je voor je bijdrage aan een duurzame campus! Ontvangstperiode 2023

Wil je helpen bij de start van de aankomende studenten (eerstejaars BSc, MSc, exchange en schakelstudenten)? Dan wil je ook vast weten wanneer de ontvangstperiode zal plaatsvinden en deze datum alvast in je agenda noteren.

De aankomende studenten worden dit jaar ontvangen in de periode vanaf 10 augustus. De OntvangstWeek (OWee) en het Introduction Programme (IP) zullen in de week van 13 tot en met 18 augustus plaatsvinden. De Eerstejaarsweekenden (EJW’s) zullen in het weekend voorafgaand aan de OWee plaatsvinden en de Kennismakingstijd (KMT), bij studentenvereniging die dat bieden, start aansluitend op de OWee of de week daarna. 

Wat kun jij betekenen?

Tijdens de OWee, de EJW’s en het IP worden de nieuwe studenten begeleid door mentoren/coaches. In die rol kun je jouw ervaring en kennis van de stad, de campus en hoe het is om aan de TU Delft/de opleiding de studeren, delen met de nieuwe studenten. Ook de opleidingen zoeken mentoren voor de nieuwe studenten. Je kunt ook werkacties bij de OWee doen, en zo betrokken zijn bij de organisatie het grootste evenement van Delft.
Verenigingen, groot en klein, zullen hulp nodig hebben bij de promotie van hun vereniging tijdens de ontvangstperiode, bijv. tijdens de infomarkt en de activiteitenmarkt of met de organisatie van welkomstactiviteiten en open trainingen. 

Heb je interesse om de volgende lichting studenten op weg te helpen zet de datum dan alvast in je agenda en geef je interesse aan bij de OWee, het IP, je studievereniging of de studentenvereniging. Houd hun social media kanalen in de gaten of ga naar hun website.

Introduction Period 2023

Do you want to help the incoming students (first-year BSc, MSc, exchange and link students) with their start in Delft? Then you will also want to know when the introduction period will take place and mark this in your calendar.

This year, arriving students will be received in the period starting 10 August. The OntvangstWeek (OWee) and the Introduction Programme (IP) will take place during the week of 13 to 18 August. The First Year Weekends (EJWs) will take place on the weekend preceding the OWee and the ‘Kennismakingstijd’ (KMT), at student societies that offer it, will start right after the OWee or the week after. 

What can you do?

During the OWee, the EYW’s and the IP, new students are guided by mentors/coaches. In this role, you can share your experience and knowledge of the city, the campus and what it is like to study at TU Delft/your study programme with the new students. The Bachelor and Master programmes will also need mentors for the new students.
You can also do ‘werkacties’ with the OWee, and getting involved in organising Delft’s biggest event. Associations, big and small, will need help in promoting their association during the reception period, e.g. during the info market and activity market or with organising welcome activities and open training sessions. 

If you are interested in helping the next batch of students get started please put the date in your diary and indicate your interest to the OWee, the IP, your study association or the student union. Keep an eye on their social media channels or go to their website.

Innovatieve kunst & technologie route Highlight Delft

Tijdens de innovatieve kunst & technologie route ontdek je drie avonden lang een bijzondere blik op de toekomst gecreëerd door kunstenaars, ontwerpers, onderzoekers, bedrijven en studenten. Bekijk de unieke toekomst-ideeën van 16 tot en met 18 februari 2023, 17:30-23:30 uur.

Meer dan 25 experimentele installaties tonen de samensmelting van kunst en technologie als inspirerende toekomst-ideeën, performances en mogelijkheden. Nieuw in 2023: Theater de Veste en Highlight Delft presenteren dit jaar voor het eerst een performance programma op vrijdag en zaterdag, en zijn extra werken van ‘Space of Possibilities’ te zien bij de hubs.

Er is een route ‘City Centre Delft’ en ‘TU Delft Campus’. De hubs zijn het startpunt van de route, wissel hier je e-ticket in. Start bij The Social Hub (van Leeuwenhoekpark 1, naast station Delft) voor de route City Centre Delft, of bij gebouw X (Mekelweg 8) voor de route TU Delft Campus.

As of February 1 2023, the Municipality of Delft will introduce paid parking for the public parking spaces on the campus. This means that as a TU Delft employee and student, you can only park for free at the six TU Delft locations. The public parking spaces are on Jaffalaan, Christiaan Huygensweg and around Korvezeestraat. These parking spaces are mainly for residents of the campus and their visitors. They can apply for a parking permit for this from the municipality.

Barriers

The TU Delft parking locations are expected to be equipped with barriers in Q2 2023. You will then still have free access with your campus card. This will be possible for a maximum of 48 consecutive hours.

Let op! Vanaf 1 februari alleen nog gratis parkeren TU Delft parkeerlocaties

Met ingang van 1 februari 2023 voert de Gemeente Delft betaald parkeren in voor de openbare parkeerplaatsen op de campus. Dat betekent dat je als medewerker en student van de TU Delft alleen gratis parkeert op de zes TU Delft locaties. De openbare parkeerplaatsen liggen aan de Jaffalaan, Christiaan Huygensweg en rondom de Korvezeestraat. Deze parkeerplaatsen zijn vooral voor bewoners van de campus en hun bezoekers. Zij kunnen hiervoor een parkeervergunning aanvragen bij de gemeente.

Slagbomen

Naar verwachting worden de TU Delft parkeerlocaties in Q2 2023 voorzien van slagbomen. Je hebt dan nog steeds gratis toegang met je campuskaart. Dit kan voor maximaal 48 aaneengesloten uren.

Recordings were recently made on the TU Delft campus for the TV programme ‘The Heroes of Education’. This programme consists of a series of four episodes in which students and teachers are followed. The series is all about education: from primary to university education in which you are taken through the work in education and see what a teacher/lecturer means to a pupil/student. In the episode at TU Delft, we see lecturers Rolf Hut (Associate Professor Water Resources) and Calvin Rans (Associate Professor Aerospace Structures and Materials) being an inspiration to their students. Watch the episode on Sunday 22 January at 15.30 on SBS6. The repeat can be seen on Saturday 28 January at 10.30 am on SBS6 and at 17.50 pm on SBS9.

De Helden van het Onderwijs

Onlangs zijn er opnames gemaakt op de campus van TU Delft voor het tv-programma ‘De Helden van het Onderwijs’. Dit programma bestaat uit een reeks van 4 afleveringen waarin studenten en docenten worden gevolgd. De serie staat volledig in het teken van het onderwijs: van primair t/m wetenschappelijk onderwijs waarin je wordt meegenomen in het werken in het onderwijs en zien we wat een docent betekent voor een leerling/student. In de aflevering bij TU Delft zien we dat docenten Rolf Hut (hoofddocent Water Resources) en Calvin Rans (hoofddocent Aerospace Structures and Materials) een inspiratie zijn voor hun studenten. Bekijk de aflevering op zondag 22 januari om 15.30 uur bij SBS6. De herhaling is te zien op zaterdag 28 januari om 10.30 uur bij SBS6 en om 16.50 uur bij SBS9.
