Are you ready for the ultimate celebration of innovation, creativity and sustainable action? Then the Maker Faire Delft is just the thing for you. On 13 & 14 May, TU Delft Science Centre is organizing this unique festival with the theme ‘Making for a better society’. Makers get the chance to show how they are making or will make an impact on our future.

Whether you are a fan of technology, fashionista or do-it-yourselfer, the Maker Faire Delft has something for everyone:

•  Innovative projects will be on display from TU Delft, Hogeschool Rotterdam and Haagse Hogeschool.
• Our proud cooperation with IKEA Delft. A couple of artists are busy designing impressive art installations from IKEA Delft’s waste streams.
• New: the Maker Market! A place where you can shop for unique and innovative products made by local and international makers.
• There is also a Throwback Classic kilo sale. There, you can shop for unique and vintage clothes at kilo prices.
• Want to reuse an old piece of your own clothing, but does it have a tear? Then bring it along to the Upcycling Fashion workshop and give your outfit a second life.
• A true self-taught maker is Marcel Knotter. He uses parts and stuff that would normally go to the junkyard to build prototypes or complete machines. Talk to Marcel and find out how he has overcome different obstacles.
• Makerspace Delft will create a Sandbox community. An environment for safe discovery and experimentation. They offer various workshops but the best one is a gathering project where visitors make a train out of leftover materials, which towards the end you can even board yourself!

Maak je klaar om te creëren en te innoveren tijdens de Maker Faire Delft op 13 & 14 mei.

Ben je klaar voor de ultieme viering van innovatie, creativiteit en duurzame actie? Dan is de Maker Faire Delft echt iets voor jou. Op 13 & 14 mei organiseert TU Delft Science Centre dit unieke festival met als thema ‘Making for a better society’. Makers krijgen de kans om te laten zien hoe zij impact maken of gaan maken op onze toekomst.

Of je nu een technologiefanaat, fashionista of een doe-het-zelver bent, de Maker Faire Delft heeft voor ieder wat wils. We hebben een aantal highlights voor je op een rijtje gezet:

• Innovatieve projecten van TU Delft, Hogeschool Rotterdam en Haagse Hogeschool zullen te bewonderen zijn.
• Trots zijn we op de samenwerking met IKEA Delft. Een aantal kunstenaars zijn druk bezig om indrukwekkende kunstinstallaties te ontwerpen van de reststromen van IKEA Delft.

• Een echte self-taught maker is Marcel Knotter. Hij gebruikt onderdelen en spullen die normaal naar het grofvuil zouden gaan, om prototypes of complete machines te bouwen. Ga met Marcel in gesprek en ontdek hoe hij obstakels overwint.
• Makerspace Delft zal een Sandbox community creëren. Een omgeving waarin veilig ontdekt en geëxperimenteerd kan worden. Ze bieden verschillende workshops met als hoogtepunt een verzamelproject waarbij bezoekers van restmaterialen een trein maken en tegen het eind kan je hier zelfs op aan boord stappen!

Doe mee aan landelijk onderzoek naar studentenwelzijn

Vul de vragenlijst in voor het landelijk onderzoek naar de mentale gezondheid en het gebruik van alcohol, drugs en roken onder studenten. Je maakt kans op één van de 500 digitale Bol.com bonnen t.w.v. € 50 (verwachte winkans 1 op de 200). Je kunt de vragenlijst invullen tot en met 21 mei 2023.

To further strengthen this commitment, we invite you to complete the survey that was send to you by email on 1 May (subject: What you should know for Q4). If you haven’t received the email, you can ask the D&I Office for a new link.

The survey will help identify the state of affairs regarding diversity within our university. The results will be used to determine what can be done to promote a safe, diverse and inclusive work environment. It will take approximately 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire. We would like to ask you to complete the survey in one go. It is not possible to close the survey part-way through in order to complete it later. All responses are anonymous.

Onderzoek naar diversiteit binnen de TU Delft

De TU Delft streeft naar een veilige, inclusieve omgeving waar we diversiteit omarmen en zo creativiteit, welzijn en innovatie stimuleren. Een TU Delft waar je het meeste uit jezelf kan halen, ongeacht je seksuele oriëntatie, denkstijl, gender, uiterlijk, fysieke of mentale vermogen of je sociaaleconomische achtergrond. Om dat streven nog meer kracht bij te zetten, ben je uitgenodigd om de survey in te vullen die per e-mail naar je is gestuurd op 1 mei (onderwerp: What you should know for Q4). Als je de e-mail niet hebt ontvangen, dan kun je het D&I Office vragen om een nieuwe link.

De survey brengt in kaart hoe het gesteld is met diversiteit binnen onze universiteit. De uitkomsten worden gebruikt om na te gaan wat er gedaan kan worden in het stimuleren van een veilige, diverse en inclusieve werkomgeving  Het invullen van de vragenlijst duurt circa 10 minuten. We willen je vragen om de survey in één keer in te vullen. Het is niet mogelijk om de survey tussentijds af te sluiten om deze later af te maken. Alle antwoorden zijn anoniem.

Don’t forget to terminate your enrolment after the final part of your study
Have you completed the final part of your study? Please be aware that you need to send a request to terminate your enrolment through Studielink as it will not be done automatically. When you terminate your enrolment at TU Delft, you are entitled to a refund of one twelfth of the annual tuition fee for each month of the academic year in which you are no longer enrolled, with the exception of termination as from July and August.

Enrolment termination with retroactive effect is not possible.

What is unacceptable sexual behaviour and what can you do if you experience such behaviour? A brochure has been prepared for all students, PhD students and staff at TU Delft that provides information on what unacceptable sexual behaviour is and what to do if you come into contact with it.

Seksueel grensoverschrijdend gedrag

Wat is seksueel grensoverschrijdend gedrag en wat kun je er doen als je er mee in aanraking komt? Voor alle studenten, PhD-kandidaten en medewerkers van TU Delft is er een brochure opgesteld waarin informatie wordt gedeeld over wat ongewenst seksueel gedrag is en hoe je kunt handelen als je ermee in aanraking gekomen bent.

Yesterday building 58 experienced a power failure, Stedin cleared the failure.

Today, Wednesday 26 April, the building will be accessible again beginning at 8 a.m. The labs are closed for bachelor teaching activities. Lectures and class room teaching do continue without notice.

Update Stroomstoring Gebouw 58, TNW-zuid
Gister kampte gebouw 58 met een stroomstoring, de storing is voorbij.

Vanaf vandaag 26 april, 08.00 uur is het gebouw weer vrij toegankelijk. De labs zijn gesloten voor bachelor onderwijsactiviteiten. Hoor- en werkcolleges gaan zonder tegenbericht wel door.

Building 58, Applied Sciences, is experiencing a power failure due to an outage at Stedin. Building 58 is not accessible to users for extended periods of time.

Gebouw 58 kampt momenteel met een stroomstoring als gevolg van een storing bij Stedin. Gebouw 58 is voor langere tijd niet toegankelijk voor gebruikers.

One or two surveys per month, about well-being, study and life at TU Delft
We’d like to hear how you’re doing at TU Delft. For this purpose, the panel will consist of one or two surveys per month, that will focus on various aspects of well-being, study and life at TU Delft. You will receive the surveys in your TU Delft email account. Your participation in the panel will not only help us understand the challenges that students face but will also enable us to create a better environment for you and future students.

What’s in it for me?
As a token of our appreciation for your time and effort, we are offering a chance to win a lunch voucher for Food & More locations at TU Delft every month to 10 randomly selected participants and a possibility to win a TU Delft sweatshirt if you complete a minimum of 12 surveys. On Thursday 4 May a brief Remembrance Day ceremony will take place to commemorate the staff and students of the Delft Institute of Technology who lost their lives in the Second World War.

A wreath will be laid at the commemorative plaque in the foyer of the Aula building by The Executive Board, Study Association Council (StudieVerenigingenRaad), Mijnbouwkundige Vereeniging (MV) and VerenigingsRaad (VeRa).

All those who wish to do so, can place flowers or wreaths at the commemorative plaque on 4 May from 16:00 to 17:00, or at a time convenient to them later, after 5 May.

Herdenkingsbijeenkomst 4 mei 2023

Op donderdag 4 mei wordt in de Aula een korte herdenkingsbijeenkomst gehouden ter nagedachtenis van alle TH-medewerkers en studenten, die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog het leven lieten.

Het College van Bestuur, StudieVerenigingenRaad (SVR), Mijnbouwkundige Vereeniging (MV) en de VerenigingsRaad (VeRa) zullen op donderdag 4 mei om 16.00 uur een krans bij de gedenkplaat in de hal van de Aula leggen.

Voor een ieder, die daar prijs op stelt, wordt gelegenheid geboden om op deze dag in de hal van de Aula van 16.00 tot 17.00 uur of anders direct na 5 mei zelf bloemen of kransen bij de gedenkplaat te leggen.
