As of Thursday 29 April 2021 the TU Delft Library is also open in the evenings until 00.00 hrs. During opening hours it is possible to return and borrow books, also for Architecture students.

Opening hours: Mon until Sun 08.00 – 00.00 hrs.

To study in the Library, students have to reserve a study place through ‘Book a studyplace’. You can choose a timeslot in the morning, afternoon or evening shifts. Please note: a reservation is mandatory!

If you cannot come to your reserved time slot, do not forget to cancel your reservation. This way you give someone else the opportunity to use that place.

Door de coronamaatregelen maak je nu waarschijnlijk niet veel gebruik van je studentenreisproduct. Maar ga je er straks weer gebruik van maken en reis je dan liever met een ander abonnement?

Exchange student travel product

Because of the corona measures, you probably don’t use your student travel product much now. But will you soon be using it again and do you prefer to travel with another pass?

Then don’t wait too long! Apply for your exchange before 1 May in My DUO. Once you have requested the exchange, you have 6 weeks to add your new season ticket to your OV-chipkaart at a ticket collection machine.
It is not possible to request a switch between 1 May and 25 August. For more information, please visit duo.nl.

Come join the hackathon in the TU Delft Library and help us get back to campus! During the hackathon you work in teams with students from different faculties, to develop concepts based on pedestrian flow data from the library. This helps us bring back on-campus education. During this weekend multiple speakers will share their views on how to reopen the campus.

• Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 May from 8 am to 8 pm.
• At the TU Delft Library

Why join?

It’s a great opportunity to develop your skills and network and, of course, get out of the house. Lunch and dinner will be provided. It will be a great experience!

What can I expect?

Participants will be divided in groups of around 4 to 5 people. With your group you will do a brainstorm session, work out interesting concepts and present the results to the other participants, professors and the organization of the hackathon. During the two days professionals and professors will come by to provide you their expertise and experiences and to discuss your ideas and concepts.

We zijn blij met het Kabinetsbesluit om vanaf 26 april weer meer studenten toe te mogen laten op de campus. Dat betekent dat er weer meer zelfstudie, groepswerk of fysiek onderwijs op de campus zal worden gegeven vanaf die datum. We raden studenten aan om goed Brightspace in de gaten te houden. 

Om deze versoepeling zo goed mogelijk te laten verlopen worden door het ministerie zelftesten beschikbaar gesteld voor studenten.

We doen een beroep op iedereen om deze zelftesten goed te gebruiken, omdat het kan helpen in de preventie en bestrijding van het coronavirus. Het gebruik van zelftesten is geheel vrijwillig en is geen toegangsbewijs voor het onderwijs. Zelftesten zullen binnenkort digitaal te bestellen zijn en zijn gratis.

Ook met de inzet van zelftesten blijven algemeen maatregelen gelden en is het belangrijk deze in goed in acht te blijven nemen voor je eigen en andermans gezondheid.

Update: 21 April

We are pleased with the government’s decision to allow more students back on campus from 26 April onwards. This means that from that date more self-study, group work or physical education can be offered on campus again. We advise students to keep a close eye on Brightspace.

In order to ensure that this easing of measures will go as smoothly as possible, self-tests are being made available by the Ministry for students and staff.

We call on everyone to make good use of these self-tests, because this can help in the prevention and control of Covid-19. The use of self-tests is completely voluntary and is not needed as an admission ticket for education. Self-tests will be soon available to be ordered digitally and are free of charge.

More information will be shortly available in the corona students page.

Even with the use of self-tests, the current measures still apply and it is important to continue to observe them for your own and other people’s health.

A new free online course helps students prepare for their university studies. Watch the video and spread the word.

As you’ve probably realised, Physics, similar to Calculus, is a crucial subject in many engineering studies, applicable across programs and faculties. But although the laws and principles of physics do not change once a student arrives at university, it can be tough to understand a more formal approach and abstract language. 

To help high-school students bridge the gap between their knowledge and the way this is presented and used at university, a new online course – Pre-University Physics – is launching on 7 June. Check out the video!

Formal doesn’t mean boring
This new online course makes university level physics approachable and fun. The exercises and examples draw from a variety of real-life situations that students can easily relate to. For example, how the boundary conditions of waves lead to different tones in various musical instruments.

The MOOC consists of three modules: Mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism, and Waves.

Students get used to the new language but also learn a new way to understand and apply physics: not to take things for granted, but to ask questions about particular situations. “Students come to appreciate that the meaning of a certain symbol – for example m for mass ­– is not defined globally, but refers to a particular object in a given situation. Asking, “what does m mean?” may at first sound dumb, but it’s often an excellent question”, says Sander Otte, the Professor of Physics at the Faculty of Applied Sciences behind the MOOC.

A winning combo
TU Delft also offers a MOOC on Pre-University Calculus that prepares high-school students for university level mathematics, showing them how it is used in different engineering and science disciplines.
