TU Delft student in The Voice of Holland, are you watching?

Are you up to date on the TU Delft showbizz rumours? Did you know that next to smart minds and creativity, we also have vocal stars to offer? Meet Daniel Kist, an IDE student in the run for the title ‘The Voice of Holland’ 2015.

After hours of practice on his toy piano, Daniel started to take real classes from the age of four. He improved quickly, being announced as the new ‘real talent’ in piano-land. He started singing when he was eleven, but was pushed to stick to backing vocals and focus on the piano instead. Despite this, Daniel made it through the blind auditions, being selected from over 4.000 candidates for The Voice. So much for backing vocals.

According to Daniel, the vibe ‘behind the scenes’ is not as harsh as a lot of people seem to think. “Everyone encourages each other, it’s really open and friendly. I still talk to some people I met at the blind auditions. They don’t carry a grudge at all.” Daniel is happy with how far he has come up until now. “I just want to enjoy everything I learn and everyone I meet. It is great if I stay in, but I am happy for the experience as it is. I would not be disappointed if I am sent home tomorrow.”

When he is not in the studio, Daniel works in his own company (Skyframes), likes to cook or plays in his band ‘The Fundamentals’. He also studied in England for a year, teaches at an elementary school and visited South Africa with the Dragonfleye project to prevent the big five from being hunt down. Mind you, this guy is only 22. His study IDE suffers a lower priority at the moment. As he says himself: “Let’s study a bit longer then.”

The single Daniel enjoys a lot of attention from the lady fans, but “there is one problem, they are all too young.” Especially Instagram delivers a lot of kind requests and encouragement. Daniel reads everything, but only values the comments he thinks are true and constructive. “There is a lot of negative stuff out there, but you should not let that get you down. In the end, the only opinions that really matter are the ones of the people around you.”

The next step of The Voice are the ‘Knock Outs’, that will be aired at the 20th and the 27th of November. Daniel’s Knock-out will be on the 20th of November. Are you going to cheer him on?
