Corona virus prevention – Steps to take if you have been to China

Due to the outbreak of the Corona virus, students who have been to China in the period since 1 December 2019 – and have returned or are shortly arriving at TU Delft – should take the following steps:

  • Contact the Executive Secretary of your faculty as soon as possible, at the latest by Sunday 2 February 2020 at midday, to report that you have been to China.
  • Study from home in the first two weeks after your return/arrival. If studying from home is not possible, please let your Faculty Executive Secretary know so that a solution can be found.
  • If you feel ill (flu-like symptoms such as fever and coughing) during these two weeks, phone your General Practitioner, mention that you have been to China and follow their medical advice. Please also report this to the Faculty Executive Secretary.

You can find some more information in the regularly updated FAQs, on the website of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and in the ‘14-day voluntary quarantine home isolation guidelines’.

Let’s remember that everyone can take simple precautionary measures to help staying healthy and to prevent the spreading on viruses by:

  • washing hands regularly
  • coughing and sneezing into the elbow, not into the hands
  • using disposable tissues.
