Our very own online crimefighter: Alumnus of the Year Ronald Prins
Ronald Prins has been named Alumnus of the Year. After graduating from Applied Mathematics in 1994, he went on to co-found the successful cybersecurity company Fox-IT.
Already during his studies, Prins was interested in pushing boundaries using his own hand made equipment. After graduation he co-founded Fox-IT together with TU Delft alumnus Menno van der Marel in 1999. This company has grown into one of the world’s leaders in cyber security. Last year, Fox-IT was purchased by the British NCC Group. Ronald Prins is known nationally and internationally for his expertise in cybercrime and a welcome guest on television shows to shed his light on this topic.
Anka Mulder, Vice President for Education & Operations at TU Delft, presented Prins with his award, praising him on his groundbreaking work in the fight against cybercrime. “Using his expertise in the media, Prins has given technology a face. He is a perfect example of someone who transformed his hobby into his profession, followed his heart and became very successful. He therefor not only is a great entrepreneur and ambassador of the TU Delft, but a source of inspiration for our current and future students. We are very proud to have him as one of our many top alumni.”
The ‘Alumnus of the Year’ is an initiative of the University Fund.
