CultProf

Ben jij benieuwd wie naast studenten onze mooie stad bevolkt?

Long live Coffee-star Library!

Coffee-star Library vernieuwing-sloop

The brave people still on campus already noticed: Coffee-star Library is under construction. Not only will it expand, but the fresh new renovation will give everyone more room to study, relax and enjoy their coffee or tea. Check out the fancy render of the new look below. Bear in mind for your point of view, the main Library entrance is to your right.

Coffee-star Library vernieuwing

You can still get Coffee-star coffee at the Library! After you enter the library, take a right. Behind the current exhibition on skyscrapers (which is also seriously cool, go check that out), you can find the pop-up Coffee-star. The baristas over there are camping out in the Library and serving us coffee as well as they can, so be nice to them.

Check out their Facebook for construction pics and updates: https://www.facebook.com/cstulibrary.

Second minor enrolment period starts 1 july – list of unavailable minors

Are you in your second BSc year and not yet registered for a minor next year? Make sure to apply for a thematic minor during the second minor registration period, starting 1 July! Log into Osiris and register for one the available minors that you wish to study.

Since the first registration period has passed, minors now have limited space or are already full. We’d love to provide you with a list of all the minors that are still available per 1 July if we could, but the minors on this list could be full within minutes after the registration in Osiris opens again. Such a list would be inaccurate within minutes. What we can do is give you a list of the minors that are definitely full and for which you cannot register any more.

The following minors are not available at the start of the second minor registration period, starting July 1:

Name minor Code
Advanced Prototyping IO-MI-135
Airport of the Future LR-MI-167
Automotive Design IO-MI-165
Biomedical Engineering BME-MI-087
De Delta Denker: water voor later CT-MI-166
Educatie SEC-MI-049
Finance TW-MI-097
Interactive Environments IO-MI-124
International Entrepreneurship and Development WM-MI-101
Mathematical Finance TW-MI-187
Ondernemerschap: Technology Based Entrepreneurship MOT-MI-088
Projectmanagement from Nano to Mega CT-MI-174
Retail Design BK-MI-145
Robotica WB-MI-168
Software Design and Application TI-MI-110
Spaceflight LR-MI-185
Sports Innovation IO-MI-164
Sustainable Design Engineering IO-MI-073
Zeiljachten MT-MI-105

Take a look at minors.tudelft.nl to check which of the still available minors you would like to study. Though keep in mind that you should always have a back-up minor since the minor of your first choice could also be the first choice of many other students. As the registration works by ‘first come, first serve’, your preferred minor could be filled within seconds after the registration has opened, as described above.

Comin’ right up: new food options on campus

Our academic year is nearing its end. We are all busy studying for our last exams or working hard towards the last deadlines of the year. To keep our energy levels up (and sometimes also to just stay awake) we rush to the restaurants and coffee corners on our campus.

After listening to student and employee feedback (through the NSE discussions for instance) the university looked at how to better meet the food demands of students and staff.

So:

The current cafeterias in the faculties are being converted into Food & Beverage Corners with a basic range of good espresso coffee, sandwiches, salads, soups and hot snacks. Or you can create your own coffee specialty in the self-service coffee bars from DE Coffee Kitchen and Starbucks. Study or just chill out in the seats around. The food and beverage offerings are geared to every faculty’s specific needs.

But of course it does not stop there! The university has lots of plans regarding the on-campus horeca. You can read all about it in this article.

Quick summary:

  • Food market in The Fellowship (open summer 2016) with La Casa Kitchen (Mediterranean) Soep & Ballen (Dutch) and the Satébar (Asian).
  • The renovated Sports Café/restaurant will reopen in September 2016.
  • Food market in the new PULSE building between IO and 3mE (open summer 2017).
  • A Food & Beverage Corner Plus will be opened in the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment in the summer of 2017, with a wide selection, including hot dishes.

Where to eat during summer?

This leaves us  to inform you about the opening hours of the current restaurants and coffee corners at campus during the summer months. Bon appétit! Click to enlarge
