Due to replacement of the sewer on Westvest (near the train station), the bicycle crossing Westvest-Zuidwal is closed until mid-July.

The crossing for cyclists and pedestrians on the Zuidwal at the height of the Westvest moves to the east, near the Lange Geer . Cyclists can make their way towards the station via the Lange Geer , Oude Delft and Binnenwatersloot / Bolwerk . Pedestrians can take the Lange Geer / Oude Delft and Barbarasteeg.

We actually recommend cyclists going towards the train station to use the Rotterdamseweg or Mijnbouwplein and Kanaalweg de Hambrug / Hamtunnel and hooks through the Giststraat on the detour route to the station through Lange Geer, Oude Delft , Binnenwatersloot / Bolwerk.

Cyclists coming from the station towards TU Delft bikes on the bike path on the other side of the Westvest, direction Bolwerk , can continue their route through the Binnenwatersloot , Oude Delft, taking the Hamtunnel / Hambrug in the direction of the university.

Cyclists still can not use the reduced cycle path along the direction Westsingel Hooikade , because here the quay wall has yet to be renewed . This is expected to be completed in September.

TU Delft students are an active bunch. Next to the demanding study programmes (the toughest in the country! Right?), they take up many responsibilities. Committees, boards, dream teams, jobs, (e-)sports and other hobbies. Name it, and Delft students do it. Preferably multiple things at the same time, across societies and organizations.

You can imagine that if almost all students are this involved, only the VERY active ones stand out. Only they manage to work their way up to the Student Wall of Fame.

It is almost that day of the year again, the 27th of April. The day that you do not have to be ashamed to dress orange and paint your face in red-white-blue. The day our King celebrates his birthday and the entire country is invited to celebrate it with him.

In Delft, Kingsday will start Tuesday night with the “Oranjekoorts Festival” on the market square. Several artists like DJ PJ and Jody Bernal will make an appearance! Though you might enjoy one of the cosy cafés in Delft more tonight, since the weather is quite unpredictable, with even hail and snow..

After a night of partying and maybe a drink or two (as always, enjoy responsibly), you can partake in different activities in the city centre on Wednesday. There will be a parade, starting at 9 0’clock (if you’re awake already/still) and again performances by musicians, magicians and DJ’s.

So maybe take some well deserved time off from studying. Grab a beer, dress purely in orange or just enjoy the city programme, but please, enjoy and celebrate!

Full yoga classes, a busy gym, training till midnight. Sports & Culture is in many ways at the centre of our campus life. The need for more room and facilities was great and the solution is near: this May, the building works for the new Sports&Culture hall take-off. To accommodate the growing number of students, the size of Sports&Culture will extend from 10.000 square meters to 14.000. Roughly a 40% increase by our math, nice. Curious what will change? Did you and your TU Delft-based team achieve an innovative and unique performance by teamwork? Then don’t hesitate to apply for the IHC Teamwork Award! The winning team will receive €7.500, a prize certificate and a mentor (Royal IHC) who will assist the winning team/start up during the following six months. In addition, there are two incentive prizes to earn, each worth €2.500. A jury with members of different backgrounds in science and business will decide which teams will be considered for the rewards and who will be awarded with the first prize.

When you and your team want to apply keep in mind that all teams should consist of minimally three persons, of which at least half of your team must be a student. Submit your application and a brief description of the activities and its outcomes before 29 April.

 After the application deadline a preselection of five nominated teams is made. They will have an interview with Royal IHC and during the second half of May the jury will nominate the candidates. On Thursday 2^nd the selected candidates will make a presentation to the jury and audience during the International Festival of Technology in the D:Dream hall.

Almost finished with your exams and waiting for the results? Then you should know that your registration at TU Delft will not be terminated automatically when you are graduated. . When you are graduating, you should file a request for deregistration during the month of graduation. You do not have to wait until graduation; you may submit the request as soon as you can, preferably even a couple of weeks prior to your graduation date.You pay tuition fees up to and including the last month of your registration. Retroactive deregistration is not allowed

So, have you passed your exams and are you officially done studying? Time to deregister and celebrate! Visit the CSA website for more information regarding deregistration and/or a possible refund of tuition fees.

Like to go spinning at the Sports Centre? Together with some good music, it can be a nice intensive workout. TU Delft band Groover has found a way to spice up the spinning sessions and collect money for charity at the same time: spinning to live music! So register and join the Groover Jazz spinning sessions on live music of the bands BRUUT!, CRISP and others to help raise money for charity Musicians without Borders on 30 April.

There will be four sessions of each 45 minutes. They start at 13:30, 14:45, 16:00 and 17:15. During each spinning session a band will play live, energizing music. The registration costs (€5,-) will go directly to charity Musicians without Borders. This organization uses the power of music to bridge divides, connect communities, and heal the wounds of war. Their long-term commitment allows participants the time to develop skills and talents, process grief and loss, and build bridges of reconciliation in societies divided by recent or ongoing conflict.

De Verkiezingscommissie maakt hierbij de kandidaten voor de verkiezingen op 18 en 19 mei 2016 van de leden van de studentenraad op instellingsniveau bekend. Tegen de geldigheid van de kandidatenlijst kan tot woensdag 20 april 2016 17:00 uur bezwaar worden ingediend.
