Scientists of TU Delft created the smallest autonomous racing drone in the world

The drone-racing team of MAVLab succeeded in creating the smallest autonomous racing drone in the world. The drone has a diameter of 10 centimetre and weighs 72 grams. With only one camera and very little onboard processing, the drone flies autonomously through a racetrack.

One of the challenges during the creation process, was the usage of just only one small camera and the limited amount of data processing. The most important innovation is the prediction of movement and computer vision. Want to know more about this self-directing and artificial intelligence racing drone? The world’s first hydrogen powered passenger plane

The students of dreamteam Aerodelft set up Project Phoenix; the world’s first liquid hydrogen-powered two-seater motor glider. Amazing!

This perfect piece of design has a range greater than 2000km and is able to fly from the Netherlands to almost every part of Europe. Just on one tank of hydrogen.

Project Phoenix has a special layer system on both wings, which reduces the drag and fuel consumptions by up to 10% in comparison with other airplanes of this type. Want to know more about this special airplane? Have a look at the website of Aerodelft.

Did you spot our new inhabitants?

One of the most beautiful birds – the peregrine falcon – decided to create a nest: on top of the tower of Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at TU Delft. And we’ve got some more news: she got babies!

No worries if you haven’t seen the little falcons yet. You don’t have to climb on top of our A+BE building to take a look. We placed a special webcam into the bird nest, so you can watch mum and her babies every minute of the day.
