Since 2019 the TU Delft Impact Contest has offered students the opportunity to further develop their own, ingenious ideas, prototypes and research projects into business plans. The main purpose and mission is to challenge students to create great, out-of-the-box innovative solutions for societal problems and translate them into real products and business plans, while interacting and making use of the expertise from very knowledgeable partners. The cherry on top: there’s a total of €20.000,- in prize money to be earned, to help kickstart your potential startup.

Why you should compete

The contest is an entrepreneurial and innovation competition for all students at TU Delft. TU Delft Campus and the TU Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship are using the contest as a means to bring the academic institution, students, government institutions, companies and organisations together in a community where innovation, entrepreneurship and co-creation are key. Students at all levels of TU Delft (Bachelor, Master, PhD’s, PDEng’s) are encouraged to pitch their creative ideas and projects and further develop them into a feasible concept. Community building and co-creation with the business community is essential for this and of great added value for students at TU Delft as well as for companies and organisations belonging to the TU Delft Impact Contest’s partner network.

Maak impact met je slimme idee: schrijf je in voor de TU Delft Impact Contest!

Sinds 2019 biedt de TU Delft Impact Contest studenten de mogelijkheid om eigen, ingenieuze ideeën, prototypes en onderzoeksprojecten verder uit te werken tot businessplannen. Het belangrijkste doel is om studenten uit te dagen om geweldige, out-of-the-box innovatieve oplossingen voor maatschappelijke problemen te creëren en deze te vertalen naar echte producten en bedrijfsplannen, terwijl ze gebruik maken van de expertise van zeer deskundige partners. De kerst op de taart: er valt in totaal €20.000,- aan prijzengeld te verdienen, om je potentiële startup mee te lanceren.

Waarom je mee zou moeten doen

De contest is een ondernemers- en innovatiewedstrijd voor alle studenten van de TU Delft. TU Delft Campus en het TU Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship gebruiken de wedstrijd als middel om de academische instelling, studenten, overheidsinstellingen, bedrijven en organisaties samen te brengen in een community waar innovatie, ondernemerschap en co-creatie centraal staan. Studenten op alle niveaus van de TU Delft (Bachelor, Master, PhD’s, PDEng’s) worden aangemoedigd om hun creatieve ideeën en projecten te pitchen en verder uit te werken tot een haalbaar concept. Communitybuilding en co-creatie met het bedrijfsleven is daarvoor essentieel en van grote toegevoegde waarde voor zowel studenten aan de TU Delft als voor bedrijven en organisaties die behoren tot het partnernetwerk van de TU Delft Impact Contest.

The TU Delft community consists of colleagues and students from very diverse backgrounds. Are you familiar with the days that are important to your colleagues due to their culture, ethnicity, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation? The Diversity & Inclusion Office has created a calendar that shows all of these days to help you take them into account when planning a meeting or event or for other types of communication. It could even inspire you to organise something with other colleagues on such a day.

Kalender diversiteit & inclusion 2023

De TU Delft-gemeenschap bestaat uit collega’s en studenten met heel diverse achtergronden. Weet jij van al je collega’s welke dagen voor hen belangrijk zijn vanuit hun cultuur, etniciteit, religie, genderidentiteit of seksuele geaardheid? Het Diversity & Inclusion Office heeft een kalender gemaakt waarin je deze dagen kunt terugvinden. Je kunt hier dan rekening mee houden, bijvoorbeeld bij het plannen van vergaderingen, evenementen en andere communicatie. Of wellicht inspireert het je om samen met collega’s iets te organiseren op zo’n dag.

Je vindt de kalender hier. Ook onderwijs- en tentamenweken zijn er trouwens in opgenomen, wel zo handig. Naast de online kalender is er een fysieke kalender gemaakt. A privacy-enhancing change has been made to a section of Microsoft 365 Apps for employees and students. That’s the new name for Microsoft Office, this suite includes software like Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Currently both connected experiences and optional connected experiences are available for @tudelft.nl Microsoft licenses. Optional connected experiences are disabled from December 20, 2022 onwards for employees and from February 7, 2023 for students. ‘Normal’ connected experiences will remain available.

Why this change?
​​​​​​​Connected experiences in Microsoft 365 Apps provide additional functions for endusers. These connected experiences are part of the processing agreement with Microsoft where Microsoft is considered the ‘processor’. For this reason, it was chosen to allow connected experiences. However, optional connected experiences are not part of this processing agreement. To ensure employee and student privacy and information security, the use of optional connected experiences will no longer be available.

What does this mean?
In practice, this means that some additional functions will no longer work on devices where an @tudelft.nl Microsoft license is used. Examples of these functions are ‘Insert online video’, ‘research’ and ‘resume assistant’. The IT department is aware that this may be experienced as inconvenient. After careful consideration, the IT department preferred privacy over functionality.

Privacyverbeterende maatregelen voor Microsoft 365-apps

Er is voor medewerkers en studenten een privacy bevorderende wijziging doorgevoerd in een onderdeel van Micrsoft 365 Apps. Dat is de nieuwe naam voor Microsoft Office, deze suit bestaat onder andere uit Outlook, Excel, Word en PowerPoint. Momenteel zijn zowel verbonden ervaringen (ook wel bekend als ‘connected experiences’) en optionale verbonden ervaringen (ook wel bekend als ‘optional connected experiences’) geactiveerd op @tudelft.nl Microsoft licenties. Per 20 december 2022 zijn optionele verbonden ervaringen uitgeschakeld voor medewerkers. Per 7 februari 2023 wordt dit ook voor studenten uitgeschakeld. ‘Normale’ verbonden ervaringen blijven wel beschikbaar.

​​​​​​​Waarom deze verandering?
​​​​​​​Verbonden ervaringen in Microsoft 365 Apps bieden functionele meerwaarde wat door gebruikers wordt gewaardeerd en gebruikt. Deze verbonden ervaringen zijn onderdeel van de verwerkersovereenkomst met Microsoft waarbij Microsoft de ‘processor’ is. Om deze reden is er voor gekozen om verbonden ervaringen toe te staan. Optionele verbonden ervaringen zijn echter geen onderdeel van deze verwerkersovereenkomst. Om de privacy en informatiebeveiliging van medewerkers en studenten te waarborgen is het gebruik van optionele verbonden ervaringen niet meer mogelijk.

​​​​​​​Wat betekent dit?
​​​​​​​In de praktijk betekent dit dat enkele additionele functies niet meer zullen werken op apparaten waar gebruikt wordt gemaakt van een @tudelft.nl Microsoft licentie. Voorbeelden van deze functies zijn ‘Insert online video’, ‘research’ en ‘resume assistant’. De directie ICT is zich ervan bewust dat dit mogelijk als beperkend of hinderlijk ervaren kan worden. Na zorgvuldige overweging wordt privacy verkozen boven functionaliteit.

De functionaliteit die niet meer beschikbaar zijn:

Master’s Week (20-23 February 2023)

Are you almost done with your bachelor’s and orientating on a master’s programme? During the Master’s Week, you will get all the information you need to make a conscious choice. Register for the online programme from the 20th until the 22nd and attend an inspiration session on societal themes, in-depth sessions on the MSc programmes and sessions about admission. You can also sign up for the on campus Master’s Market on the 23rd of February and talk to current MSc students about their experiences.

Geef jouw mening! Doe de Nationale Studenten Enquête 2023

In de week van 16 januari is de Nationale Studenten Enquête 2023 van start gegaan. Dé mogelijkheid om de TU Delft te laten weten of je tevreden bent met jouw opleiding. De resultaten van de enquête geven ons inzicht over de kwaliteit van het onderwijs en helpen studiekiezers bij het vinden van de opleiding die bij hen past.

Laat je stem horen! De oproep voor de NSE is naar je studentmail gestuurd, ben je deze kwijt? Hier vraag je hem opnieuw op.

Don’t forget to terminate your enrolment after the final part of your study
Have you completed the final part of your study? Please be aware that you need to send a request to terminate your enrolment through Studielink as it will not be done automatically. When you terminate your enrolment at TU Delft, you are entitled to a refund of one twelfth of the annual tuition fee for each month of the academic year in which you are no longer enrolled, with the exception of termination as from July and August.

Enrolment termination with retroactive effect is not possible.

From 2024, disposable plastic cups and meal containers are no longer allowed by law if you eat or drink on site at a catering establishment, festival or office. TU Delft is already anticipating this legislation as part of its 2023 Sustainability Programme by moving away from plastic and non-highly recyclable single-use coffee cups starting 6 February, in the Week of the Circular Economy. In its place will be the Billie Cup reusable cup system, initially at the eight staffed coffee corners and later in the year at catering establishments and vending machines.

How does the Billie Cup system work?
The Billie Cup system is very easy. You pay (the first time) a deposit of €1 per Billie Cup. You can keep the Billie Cup or return it after use for a drink token and use it to pick up a new cup next time. There are three sizes (cappuccino, lungo, espresso). When redeeming, these types are interchangeable. In addition to the deposit for a cup, you can also purchase a matching lid of the same material. A lid also costs €1 each, but it is not exchangeable. So you have to wash the lid yourself. The Billie Cup is already used at several universities and colleges, so you can use it at these other locations as well.

Where can I get a Billie Cup?
You can purchase and return the Billie Cup at the eight staffed coffee corners on campus. These are: 3mE Espressobar, ABE Strong, CEG Espressobar by LIT Espresso, Coffee & Bikes, Echo Coffeecorner, EEMCS Espresso Piaggio, Fellowship Foodmarket and Library Coffee-star.

Vending machine
Because of the sizes and light colours of the cups, the Billie Cup can also be used under Maas and Douwe Egberts coffee machines. Colour is important for automatic recognition of the presence of a cup, so you can’t just put any other kind of cup under it. If you want to use your own cup for the coffee machines, make sure it is light in colour and fits under the dispensing system.

In the coming years, we will be working toward a carbon-neutral, circular and climate-adaptive campus, with a focus on improving biodiversity and quality of life. Waste management also falls under this. With the use of the Billie Cup, we realize a reduction in the annual use of six million disposable cups. TU Delft gaat per 6 februari 2023 over op de herbruikbare Billie Cup

Vanaf 2024 zijn plastic wegwerpbekers en -maaltijdverpakkingen bij wet niet meer toegestaan als je ter plaatse in een horecagelegenheid, op een festival of op kantoor eet of drinkt. In het kader van haar Duurzaamheidsprogramma loopt TU Delft vooruit op deze wetgeving door vanaf 6 februari 2023, in de Week van de Circulaire Economie, af te stappen van plastic en niet hoogwaardig recyclebare single-use koffiebekers. Daarvoor in de plaats komt het herbruikbare bekersysteem van Billie Cup, in eerste instantie bij de acht bemande coffeecorners en later in het jaar ook bij de catering en vendingautomaten.

Hoe werkt het Billie Cup-systeem?

Het Billie Cup systeem is heel makkelijk. Je betaalt (de eerste keer) een borg van €1 per Billie Cup. Je kunt de Billie Cup beker houden of na gebruik weer inleveren voor een drinktoken/muntje en daarmee de volgende keer een nieuwe beker ophalen. Er zijn drie maten (cappuccino, lungo, espresso). Bij het inwisselen zijn deze soorten onderling uitwisselbaar. Naast de borg voor een beker, kun je ook een bijpassende deksel aanschaffen van hetzelfde materiaal. Deksels kosten ook €1 per stuk, maar zijn niet inwisselbaar. De deksel moet je dus zelf wassen.

De Billie Cup wordt al op meerdere universiteiten en hogescholen ingezet en je kunt ze dus op deze andere locaties ook gebruiken.

Waar kan ik een Billie Cup krijgen?

Je kunt de Billie Cup aanschaffen en weer inleveren bij de acht bemande horecalocaties op de campus. Dit zijn: 3mE Espressobar, BK Sterk, CiTG Espressobar by LIT Espresso, Coffee & Bikes, Echo Coffeecorner, EWI Espresso Piaggio, Fellowship Foodmarket en Library Coffee-star.

Koffieautomaat

De Billie Cup kan ook gebruikt worden onder de Maas en Douwe Egberts koffieautomaten vanwege de maten en de lichte kleuren van de bekers. Kleur is belangrijk voor de automatische herkenning van de aanwezigheid van een beker, dus je kunt er niet zomaar een ander soort beker onder zetten. Indien je je eigen beker wilt gebruiken voor de koffieautomaten, zorg er dan voor dat deze licht van kleur is en past onder het uitgiftesysteem.

De komende jaren wordt toegewerkt naar een CO₂-neutrale, circulaire en klimaatadaptieve campus, met aandacht voor verbetering van biodiversiteit en leefkwaliteit. Afvalbeheer valt hier ook onder. Met het gebruik van de Billie Cup realiseren we een reductie van het jaarlijks gebruik van zes miljoen wegwerpbekers. TU Delft bedankt je voor je bijdrage aan een duurzame campus!
