Will you be wearing purple on Purple Friday?

On Friday December 8th, it is Purple Friday again. And that is the moment to ask and show acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community at Delft University of Technology so that all LGBTQ+ people at our university feel that they can or dare to be their authentic selves without fear of prejudice, negative reactions or other reasons.

This is why Purple Friday is the day when attention is actively drawn to this acceptance. By wearing purple clothing or accessories, you show that people can be themselves around you. This visibility contributes in a very positive way to a better atmosphere on campus for LGBTQ+ people, both in -and out of the closet.

Something will be organised at almost every faculty. For instance, there will be a number of places on campus where you can get purple bracelets, you can use VR goggles to take a look into the life of a non-binary person and the Diversity & Inclusivity team will provide training on how to overcome your own prejudices in case you have them.

Draag jij ook paars op Paarse Vrijdag?

Vrijdag 8 december is het weer Paarse Vrijdag. En dat is het moment om aan de Technische Universiteit Delft acceptatie te vragen en te tonen voor de LHBTI+ gemeenschap zodat alle LHBTI’ers aan onze universiteit voelen dat zij volledig zichzelf kunnen of durven zijn zonder angst voor vooroordelen, negatieve reacties of andere redenen.

Daarom is Paarse Vrijdag de dag waarbij er actief aandacht wordt gevraagd voor deze acceptatie. Door paarse kleding of accessoires te dragen laat je zien dat mensen bij jou zichzelf kunnen zijn. Deze zichtbaarheid draagt op een zeer positieve manier bij aan een betere sfeer op de campus voor LHBTI’ers, zowel in -als uit de kast.

Op bijna elke faculteit wordt iets georganiseerd. Zo zullen er een aantal plekken op de campus zijn waar je paarse armbandjes kan krijgen, kun je met een VR-bril een kijkje nemen in het leven van een non-binair persoon en zal het Diversity & Inclusivity team een training geven in het overkomen van eventuele eigen vooroordelen.
