From 3 until 16 July the association Thinking City organises an interdisciplinary Summer School on the city planning and development of Amsterdam. For Delft University of Technology, ten €650,- scholarships are available. Besides this, it will give you 3 ECTS. Apply before may 25th!

Sixty scientists, planners and designers will work on specific urban cases for Amsterdam city in close collaboration with local authorities who hold the cases. During the evenings there will be a free lecture program spread across multiple special locations in the city. Subscription has opened now!

Based on the six case studies, the resilience of urban systems will be researched. The cases revolve around a diverse set of topics; ranging from water management and energy infrastructure, digital healthcare, art-festivals, the liveability of touristy hotspots, participation in society by refugees, and the quality of life of the elderly. If the proposals, which will be proposed to the local authorities and the stakeholders of the problem seems fruitful, they might actually be proceeded. Since multiple of last year’s proposals have been executed, the expectations for this summer are sky-high.

Summer School Thinking City 2015 is organised in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS). Partner organisations are the Academy of Architecture of Amsterdam, Arcam, Pakhuis de Zwijger and StadsSalon. The program is made possible by GIRA, the Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst (AFK) and the Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie.
