TU Delta is het onafhankelijke universiteitsmagazine van de TU Delft en wil graag weten hoe belangrijk het magazine is voor jou als student aan de TU Delft. Hier hebben zij jouw mening voor nodig. Daarom nodigen wij jou uit om mee te doen aan deze enquête.

Wat is dit?
In het Library Learning Centre staat weer een ‘Mystery Object’ met prijsvraag. En we hebben deze keer weer een gastjurylid: Lesley Robertson van TNW. De wedstrijd is geopend tot en met maandag 23 juni 2014.

Weet jij…. wat dit is?
Doe dan mee met de prijsvraag! Gepensioneerd TU-wetenschapster en curator van het Beijerinck museum, Lesley Robertson (TNW), heeft het Mystery Object uitgekozen voor deze prijsvraag. Met haar vakkennis zal zij als gastjurylid de ingeleverde antwoorden beoordelen op juistheid, volledigheid en op de duidelijkheid van de bijbehorende uitleg. De winnaar krijgt een Dolce Gusto koffiemachine.

In het huidige collegejaar 2013-2014 zijn we met de laatste maanden bezig. De zomervakantie is alweer in zicht. Iedereen gaat zo langzamerhand bezig met de planning voor het komend jaar, vandaar dat we je graag willen informeren over de nieuwe academische jaarindeling voor collegejaar 2014-2015. Je kunt hem hier vinden. Erg handig om te weten wanneer de eerste collegedagen en de vakantiedagen zijn.

Would you like to have the opportunity to speak at TEDxDelft 2015? This is your chance. The TEDxDelft Award offers students and PHD candidates a platform to share their idea (worth sharing). The award is not only a onetime event, but a complete track. Part of this track are several workshops to help participants develop their idea and their pitching skills. During the final the different pitches will compete for the award and a wildcard giving the winners the chance to spread their idea at TEDxDelft 2015: an event with an audience of over a thousand.

The TEDxDelft Award is an initiative of YES!Delft students and the official organization of TEDxDelft.

In the framework of the European elections the Energy Club organizes a masterclass  European energy policy on Monday, May 19th 15:00 – 18:30 Room A, TPM faculty.

With this masterclass the Energy Club wants to provide students with more insight into the European Energy Policy and what this policy means for the energy sector. In addition, they will provide the four speakers with fresh, open and innovative ideas of students.

The masterclass will cover Energy Policy both broad and specific. First, the institutional context of the European Union will be sketched and an overview of the European Energy Policy topics will be given. The main part of the masterclass will focus on the translation of EU policy to national policies, the role of research in policy development and applications of EU Energy Policy in industry. The guest speakers are the director of FOM, Ingo Bunzeck from ECN, Aart Dekkers (Ministery of Economics Affairs) and Martijn Groenleer, Assistant Professor of Public Policy at TPM faculty.

Recruitment for the new NovaBike team has started.

We’re looking for students that want to be a part of our 2014-2015 team. Together with students from all faculties of the TU Delft you’ll take on the challenge to build a bio-ethanol powered racing motorcycle. With this motorcycle you’ll race against professional teams on circuits throughout Europe.

So are you:
– Passionate about motorcycles, combustion engines or racing
– A team-player that wants to work together with students from all over the university
– Looking for a way to combine theory and practice
– Interested in managing a real race-team

Vrijdagavond 9 mei in de bibliotheek: geen boekenuitleen, wel studieplekken

Op vrijdag 9 mei 2014 is de hal van de bibliotheek wegens een evenement vanaf 18:00 gesloten. Er kunnen vanaf die tijd geen boeken geleend of geretourneerd worden, ook kunnen de pc’s in de hal niet gebruikt worden. De studieplekken van de Rode, Oranje en Glazen zaal zijn wel die avond beschikbaar.

Afgelopen tentamenperiode (april 2014) stond opnieuw een TU Delft erfgoedobject als Mystery Object in de Library. Aan de bibliotheekbezoekers werd gevraagd: “Wat is dit?”

Het betrof deze keer een klassieke “indicateur” voor drukmetingen aan stoom- en verbrandingsmotoren. Aangesloten op de cilinder van een motor maakt dit instrument een PV-diagram (ook wel indicateurdiagram genoemd) om zo de geleverde arbeid  van het de motor vast te stellen. Continue reading →
