Herdenkingsbijeenkomst 4 mei
Ter nagedachtenis van alle TH-medewerkers en studenten die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog het leven lieten wordt namens het College van Bestuur en de StudieVerenigingenRaad (SVR), zonder officiële ceremonie, op maandag 4 mei om 16.00 uur een krans bij de gedenkplaat in de hal van de Aula gelegd.
Hoewel de TU Delft op 4 en 5 mei gesloten zal zijn, is in het kader van het 70-jarige jubileum van de bevrijding besloten om op 4 mei toch een korte herdenkingsbijeenkomst te houden. Voor iedereen die daar prijs op stelt is er de gelegenheid om op deze dag in de hal van de Aula van 16.00 tot 17.00 uur bloemen of kransen bij de gedenkplaat te leggen. Dit mag natuurlijk ook na 5 mei.

ISO on Tour: Moet educatie niet gewoon digitaal?
Moet het hoger onderwijs gedigitaliseerd worden? Moet de politiek hierin een rol spelen? Wat doet de TU Delft hierin? Anka Mulder, Michel Rog en Pieter Duisenberg zullen hiervoor pleiten, hierover discussiëren en vragen van het publiek beantwoorden op woensdagavond 29 april tijdens de eerste editie van ISO (Interstedelijk Studenten Overleg) on tour.
New Free Festival and ‘Day of Wonder’ (formerly ZOMERfestival)

It’s time to celebrate what our city is good at: Delft will be combining the best of technology and innovation in a varied programme. Fans of technology, music, and festivals, as well as techno starters, students, and scientists will have the chance to meet for a whole week. Everyone will be challenged to join the debates, to inspire each other, and to create together. Test your knowledge and skills, take a look into the future, and meet the scientists behind the projects.
From June 1 to 5 2015, the city of Delft and the campus will be hosting the brand new International Festival of Technology. During this week, Delft will be the scene of master classes, challenges, debates, art walks and open lab days, as well as special performances like ‘Professors in the Theater Arena’ and ‘The Iceman’.
On the 3rd of June, during the OC&C Ringvaart Regatta, the TU Delft Sports Engineering Institute will be showing the latest technological developments, while on Friday there will be a special business programme for entrepreneurs seeking to collaborate. There will also be workshops for children, while TU Delft students will make an attempt to set a new ‘crate bridge’ world record. The programme is not yet complete!
One thing is sure: the festival will be packed with surprises and encounters. And everyone will be able to enjoy it all, because the Inholland University of Applied Sciences ‘Groentestudentenbus’ will be covering the festival via a livestream.

The grand finale is on Friday 5 June will be ‘A day of Wonder’ – a mix of music, technology, art, stand-up science, and very special food. Get inspired by leading speakers on trends in technology, and enjoy live performances by major artists and music innovators like:

Choosing your minor: no stress at the Minor Event
Last week we spoke with Jan and Sander (both IDE students) about how they chose their minor. Jan opted to stay in Delft for his minor, while Sander went abroad to experience new cultures and other types of education. See last week’s post here.
Today we talked to Jesse and Vera (TPM and EEMCS students respectively) about how they chose their minor. Jesse opted to do an internship for his minor, while Vera went to Amsterdam to experience courses at a different university.
Choosing the right minor can be difficult. With loads of options, it can be tricky to say what would be most valuable for you: deepening your knowledge on a certain topic in your field, broadening your horizons outside that field, going abroad for a while or even doing an internship in stead. It’s all possible, but don’t stress! At the Minor Event on 23 April at the Auditorium, you’ll find out more about our TU Delft Minors.
Readers digest: pilot downloadable readers at TPM and IDE
As of today, the readers at TPM and IDE will become available as download in Blackboard. The TU Delft is testing this new system for a short period. During the pilot the amount of downloads will be measured and the user experience will be evaluated. If the test is successful, further implementation will be executed in the upcoming period. If all goes well, all readers of the TU Delft will be available as download in Blackboard at the beginning of the new academic year!
“De Nationale DenkTank was echt de mooiste periode uit mijn studententijd”
Elk jaar wordt in Nederland de Nationale DenkTank georganiseerd. De DenkTank werkt met een team van ongeveer twintig studenten en promovendi gedurende vier maanden aan visionaire, creatieve én praktische oplossingen voor een urgent maatschappelijk probleem. Het team kan daarbij rekenen op de input van experts uit de wetenschap, het bedrijfsleven en de overheid.
Het onderwerp van dit jaar is ‘het leren van de toekomst’. De noodzaak van vernieuwing in het onderwijs tekent zich steeds scherper af. De Nationale DenkTank 2015 gaat zich bezighouden met de vraag: “Hoe kunnen we het leren in Nederland zo organiseren dat het beter aansluit bij de individuele leerling en de veranderende omgeving?”

Elections members of the Student Council at institutional level
De Verkiezingscommissie maakt hierbij de kandidaten voor de verkiezingen op 20 en 21 mei 2015 van de leden van de studentenraad op instellingsniveau bekend. Tegen de geldigheid van de kandidatenlijst kan tot woensdag 22 april 2015 17:00 uur bezwaar worden ingediend. Indien er geen bezwaarschriften zijn ingediend, zullen de kandidatenlijsten op 23 april 2015 onaantastbaar zijn. Bezwaarschriften kunnen ingediend worden bij de Verkiezingscommissie, Stevinweg 1, Delft, kamer 5.10.
The Central Election Committee hereby makes known the candidates for the elections for the university’s Student Council at institutional level on 20th en 21st May 2015. A formal objection pertaining to the validity of the candidate lists can be submitted, in writing, to the election committee until 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday 22nd April 2015. If no formal objections are received then the results will be made irreversible on 23rd April 2015. Formal objections can be submitted to the Student Council Election Committee, Stevinweg 1, Delft, room 5.10.
