Purple Friday

Friday 10 December is Purple Friday. On this day, people can show their solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community by wearing a purple garment.

In 2010, Purple Friday was organised for the first time in the Netherlands and always takes place on the second Friday of December. The reason for starting Purple Friday was the outcome of a study that showed that it is not safe for young people to come out of the closet at 50% of the educational institutions and that the number of suicides among LGBTQ+ youth is five times higher than among heterosexual youth. That’s why True-U, DWH and Outsite are organising Purple Friday at TU Delft for the 3rd time this year.

If you care about the LGBTQ+ community and want to join in, put on a purple garment and show your support when you are physically on campus on Friday or online from home!

See this page for more information.

Paarse vrijdag

Corona update: new measures announced

On 26 November the government announced additional COVID measures. Fortunately, education remains open, in the daytime as well as in the evenings. The maximum group size of 75 persons in an independent room where education is given remains in force.

It is still important to comply with the basic measures. For the catering industry, amateur sport and non-essential shops, additional restrictive measures have been announced from 28 November. Catering, sports facilities and X will be closed from 17:00. The new measures will apply at least until 19 December.

Keep an eye on Brightspace for updates on whether lectures will be given online or physically.  Read the full update here.

Corona update: nieuwe maatregelen aangekondigd

TU Delft confidential adviser team expands

Scroll down for Dutch

With effect from 15 October 2021, the TU Delft has four new internal confidential advisers. They serve as the point of contact, sounding board and guide for TU Delft students, staff members and guests confronted by undesirable behaviour or a suspected breach of integrity.

The team of confidential advisers now has a total of seven members. The four new members are Giorgia Giardina (CEG), Ada van Gulik (EEMCS), Christiaan Mooiman (Applied Sciences) and Marlies Nijemeisland (AE). You can contact them with questions and issues relating to undesirable behaviour and organisational integrity. Two other members of the team, Jenny Dankelman (3mE) and Bernard Dam (Applied Sciences), specialise in academic integrity. The seventh team member is Sandra van der Hor, TU Delft’s external confidential adviser.

Support and advice
The most important task of the team of confidential advisers involves providing assistance and arranging referrals for TU Delft students, staff members and guests who face undesirable behaviour or other potential breaches of integrity. In addition, confidential advisers can also provide information and they advise management and administrators on developments in the field of integrity and social safety. All confidential advisers are accessible to everyone at TU Delft: it is up to you which one you turn to.

More information?
On the TU Delft website, you can find out more about the confidential advisers’ role and TU Delft’s policy on integrity.

Uitbreiding team vertrouwenspersonen TU Delft

Student Wellbeing Survey

The first quarter of this new academic year is already over. We were able to see each other on campus again, and changes in COVID-19 policies influenced our daily lives. During the COVID-19 crisis we regularly sent out our survey. These previous results were used to inform university policies for wellbeing. As things have been changing quickly, we want to keep hearing from you and your peers: how are you doing? What are your (new) needs? How can we support you? Let your voice be heard: fill in the survey in Dutch or in English and help the taskforce for Student Wellbeing to promote interventions directly impacting students’ wellbeing.
