Did you notice the big blue billboards?
You might have seen the blue billboards along the Michiel the Ruyterweg: ‘Heb oog voor een ander’, in English: ‘Look out for one another’. Since the start of the academic year the amounts of cyclists on campus have increased massively, especially during peek hours and in-between lectures. Because the cyclists have priority on the Michiel the Ruyterweg these flows of cyclists tend to annoy other people in traffic, with emphasis on drivers. So we have to look out for one another, give priority to cars once in a while, cycle with a max of two persons side by side and show where you want to go, we all know the traffic rules, now let us also use them.
The campaign also aims to draw attention to alternative and maybe even quicker routes for cyclists to take to several destinations on campus. On the ‘Hooiweg’ a banner shows students the shortest routes. Time to try something new!
