Open the gate! Or at least, design it

IFoT - Entrance gate 2015

The International Festival of Technology invites TU Delft, De Haagse Hogeschool and Inholland students to submit their most creative and innovative designs for the entrance to their festival site. The winners will get to see their design actually be built and receive some nice prize money.

The assignment
Design an awesome, sustainable, innovative, typically ‘Delft’ entrance for the festival site. No pressure. They’re looking for a ‘typical Delft design’. This means that the entrance first has to be functional as, you know, being able to enter the festival terrain. But it should also surprise the visitor with creativity and technological innovation. Go crazy! And by the way, collaborating with students from other educational institutes in or outside Delft in a single team is a plus. Check this website for more details and technical requirements of your entrance.

TU TV: Student hydrogen race car to power the world

A brand new episode by TU TV. An episode about the TU Delft DreamTeam Forze, world’s first hydrogen race team. They’re developing a hydrogen race car, hoping to attract investors and interest the world in hydrogen fuel cell technology.

Fuel cell technology allows for a very sustainable vehicle since the only outputs of the fuel cells are water and energy. This means zero CO2 and zero NOx.

The goal of Forze is the Dutch Super Car Challenge in August 2016. If they manage to compete in this challenge, their hydrogen race car is the first ever to compete against petrol cars!

Turn your thermostat down and wear a sweater

1920x1080 warme truiendag engels

On Friday 5 February, TU Delft will turn its thermostats down by one degree in all university buildings. Once again we are participating in the national Warm Jumper Day and, as a result, will save a considerable amount of energy and CO2 emissions. So make sure to dress warm this Friday.

In some of our buildings, the temperature cannot be adjusted centrally or a constant temperature is required for research purposes. But don’t worry, you can still participate: just turn the radiator in your own room down a notch and contribute to this energy-saving green initiative.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI-cq3GTb2I

Congratulations Delft Hyperloop!

The team comprised of TU Delft students  has placed second in the SpaceX Hyperloop competition. Only the team of MIT was able to beat our university’s dreamteam. Delft Hyperloop did win first prize for ‘most innovative design’.

This means that the dreamteam is now allowed to actually build and test their design for the super fast transport system. When finished the system should be able to travel with a speed from over 1000 km/h. The dreamteam gets the possibility to test their hyperloop in a 1,6 km long vacuum tube that SpaceX will build starting this spring.
