Come along to X’s Health Week and once again, reflect on what health means to you and experience some of the many benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

On 8 March the TU Delft is celebrating International Women’s Day 2023 with the theme #EmbraceEquity. Join a conversation about providing equal opportunity: to eliminate an imbalance in outcomes, to look at what privileges people benefit from or what barriers might actually stand in people’s way. Delft Women in Science (DEWIS) is organising an event on the theme. Starting at 14.30, the event includes music from great female composers, an Omdenken Show were you will learn to look at reality differently and a panel conversation. The goal is a world free of prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. A world where women’s differences and achievements are valued and celebrated. All students are welcome to join the celebration and conversation on 8 March!

Internationale Vrouwendag 8 maart 2023: #EmbraceEquity

Op 8 maart viert de TU Delft Internationale Vrouwendag 2023 met het thema #EmbraceEquity. Doe mee aan een gesprek over het creëren van gelijke kansen: om een onbalans in uitkomsten weg te nemen, moet je kijken naar welke voorrechten mensen genieten of wat voor barrières mensen juist in de weg kunnen staan. Delft Women in Science (DEWIS) organiseert een evenement rond het thema. Vanaf 14.30 uur is er muziek van grote vrouwelijke componisten, een Omdenken Show waarin je anders naar de werkelijkheid leert kijken en een panelgesprek. Het doel is een wereld zonder vooroordelen, stereotypen en discriminatie, die divers, rechtvaardig en inclusief is. Een wereld waarin verschillen en prestaties van vrouwen worden gewaardeerd en gevierd. Alle studenten zijn welkom om op 8 maart mee te vieren en te praten!

Since December, several catering locations on campus have become Too Good To Go locations, and you can take part.

What does this mean?

Too Good To Go is an app against food waste and helps save delicious, unsold food. Leftover food and drinks are sold as a so-called “magic box” (in our case, a bag) and are for sale via the Too Good To Go app (also available via the App store). The bag contains a combination of juices, salads and sandwiches. The selection depends on which products are left over. The box costs €3.99 and the actual retail value is around €12. The participating restaurants on campus are: the Aula, Echo, Bouwkunde, EEMCS and CEG.

Want to reserve one of the bags? Then you need to keep a close eye on the app to reserve one; the number of bags per day is limited.

Wil jij helpen voedselverspilling tegen te gaan voor een goede prijs?

Sinds december zijn verschillende cateringlocaties op de campus Too Good To Go locaties en jij kan hieraan meedoen.

Wat houdt dit in?

Too Good To Go is een app tegen voedselverspilling en helpt bij aan het redden van heerlijk, onverkocht voedsel. Overgebleven eten en drinken wordt verkocht als een zogenaamde “magic box” (in ons geval een tas) en zijn te koop via de Too Good To Go app (ook beschikbaar in App store). In de tas zit een combinatie van sappen, salades en broodjes. De selectie hangt af van welke producten er over zijn. De box kost €3,99 en de werkelijke winkelwaarde ligt rond de €12. De deelnemende restaurants op campus zijn: de Aula, Echo, Bouwkunde, EEMCS en CEG.

Wil je een van de zakken reserveren? Dan moet je goed de app in de gaten te houden om deze te reserveren;  het aantal zakken per dag is beperkt.

Recently we found out that during the installation of Microsoft Office 365 on private devices, in some cases the Bitlocker recovery keys are automatically moved to a secure environment of TU Delft.

Bitlocker is an encryption tool from Microsoft. It encrypts data on computers running Windows 10 and 11. This encryption is a perfectly normal security measure to protect data and therefore does not pose an immediate problem. Encrypted data on computers is unusable without a so-called Bitlocker key. This key (also called ‘Recovery key’) is normally only stored locally on your device. In the unlikely event of a hardware problem or if the hard drive is placed in another computer (as is sometimes the case after a theft), you will need the Recovery key to regain access to your data. Without this key, the data is unusable.

Employees and students who have Bitlocker activated have been contacted by email with further instructions. If you have not received a personal email, then your device has not been encrypted with Bitlocker or the recovery key has not been stored in TU Delft’s environment.

Bitlocker keys in sommige gevallen verplaatst naar TU Delft

Recent is gebleken dat tijdens de installatie van Microsoft Office 365 op privé apparaten in sommige gevallen automatisch de Bitlocker herstelsleutel (of recovery key) is opgeslagen bij TU Delft.

Bitlocker is een encryptie tool van Microsoft. Hiermee wordt data op computers met Windows 10 en 11 versleuteld. Deze versleuteling is een volkomen normale veiligheidsmaatregel om data te beschermen en vormt daarmee niet direct een probleem. Versleutelde data op computers is onbruikbaar zonder zogenaamde ‘Bitlocker key’. Deze key (of Recovery key) wordt normaal gesproken alleen lokaal op je apparaat opgeslagen. Wanneer er zich onverhoopt een hardware probleem voordoet of als de harde schijf in een andere computer wordt geplaatst (zoals soms ook het geval is na een diefstal), heb je de Recovery key nodig om weer toegang te krijgen tot je data. Zonder deze key is de data onbruikbaar.

Medewerkers en studenten waarbij Bitlocker is geactiveerd zijn benaderd via email met nadere instructies. Mocht je geen persoonlijke email hebben ontvangen dan is jouw apparaat niet versleuteld met Bitlocker of is de herstelsleutel niet opgeslagen in de systemen van TU Delft.

For the 2023-2024 academic year, The Bachelor’s-before-Master’s rule (‘harde knip’ in Dutch) applies for the time being. The temporary measure for Bachelor’s-before-Master’s for academic year 22/23 due to COVID-19 will no longer apply next year and the regular Bachelor’s-before-Master’s rule (‘harde knip’ in Dutch) will take effect again in the academic year 2023/2024. This means that the bachelor’s program and bridging program (if applicable) must be fully completed before the start of the master’s programme.

No exceptions are made to this. Start date for the master is September 1. Enrollment into the master’s program at another date is only possible for holders of a TU Delft BSc diploma, provided that the bachelor’s program and bridging program (if applicable) have been completed in full and the conditions as described in the enrollment and tuition fee regulations have been met.

As soon as the Bachelor’s exam has been registered with the Central Student Administration and you have met any additional conditions, your registration request will be converted into a Master’s registration.

Studiejaar 2023/2024: reguliere harde knip

Voor studiejaar 2023-2024 geldt vooralsnog een harde knip. De tijdelijke zachte knip regeling studiejaar 2022/2023 i.v.m. COVID-19 is volgend jaar niet meer van toepassing en de reguliere harde knip regeling gaat weer in per studiejaar 2023/2024. Dit houdt in dat het bachelorprogramma en schakelprogramma (indien van toepassing) volledig afgerond dienen te zijn voor de start van de masteropleiding. Hierop worden geen uitzonderingen gemaakt. Startdatum voor de master is 1 september. Tussentijds instromen in de masteropleiding kan mits het bachelorprogramma en schakelprogramma (indien van toepassing) volledig zijn afgerond en voldaan is aan de voorwaarden zoals omschreven in de regeling inschrijving en collegegeld. De geldende toelatingseisen zijn hier te vinden.

Indien je na het behalen van je bachelor wilt doorstromen naar een masteropleiding binnen de TU Delft, verzoeken we je hiervoor een verzoek tot inschrijving te doen in Studielink. Zodra het bachelorexamen is geregistreerd bij de Centrale Studenten Administratie en je aan de eventuele aanvullende voorwaarden hebt voldaan, wordt je verzoek tot inschrijving omgezet in een masterinschrijving.

You have undoubtedly heard of the new artificial intelligence tool, ChatGPT, and you may have already used it yourself. ChatGPT offers many opportunities for education. TU Delft is therefore currently investigating how the tool can be used constructively and responsibly as learning tool. In the coming period, we will discuss this with AI experts, lecturers and learning developers from TU Delft.

The emergence of ChatGPT can also have consequences for exams, assignments and other forms of testing. It is important that we can continue to assess whether you as a student have mastered the knowledge, insight and skills within a subject and the educational programme. In consultation with the examination boards, we will thus re-examine how we can continue to guarantee the assessment.

We assume your own responsibility for your own learning process in which you use tools such as ChatGTP in a responsible manner. Improper use of tooling like ChatGPT can be seen as fraud.  You are also invited to talk to your teachers about how we can use this new tool to make our education better.

Hoe om te gaan met ChatGTP?

Je hebt ongetwijfeld gehoord van de nieuwe artificial intelligence tool, ChatGPT, en mogelijk heb je daar zelf al gebruik van gemaakt. ChatGPT biedt veel mogelijkheden voor het onderwijs. De TU Delft onderzoekt daarom momenteel hoe de tool constructief en op verantwoorde wijze kan worden ingezet als hulp- en leermiddel. De komende periode gaan we daarover met AI-experts, docenten en onderwijskundigen van de TU Delft in gesprek.

De opkomst van ChatGPT kan ook gevolgen hebben voor tentamens, opdrachten en andere vormen van toetsing. Het is namelijk belangrijk dat we bij toetsen goed kunnen blijven beoordelen of je als student zelf de kennis, het inzicht en de vaardigheden binnen een vak en het onderwijsprogramma beheerst. In samenspraak met de examencommissies gaan we opnieuw bekijken op welke wijze we de toetsing kunnen blijven waarborgen.

We gaan uit van je eigen verantwoordelijkheid voor jouw eigen leerproces waarin je op verantwoorde manier gebruik maakt van tools als ChatGTP. Onjuist gebruik van tooling als ChatGPT kan leiden tot fraude.  Tevens nodigen je uit om in gesprek te gaan met je docenten over hoe we deze nieuwe tool kunnen benutten om ons onderwijs beter te maken.

Since 2019 the TU Delft Impact Contest has offered students the opportunity to further develop their own, ingenious ideas, prototypes and research projects into business plans. The main purpose and mission is to challenge students to create great, out-of-the-box innovative solutions for societal problems and translate them into real products and business plans, while interacting and making use of the expertise from very knowledgeable partners. The cherry on top: there’s a total of €20.000,- in prize money to be earned, to help kickstart your potential startup.

Why you should compete

The contest is an entrepreneurial and innovation competition for all students at TU Delft. TU Delft Campus and the TU Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship are using the contest as a means to bring the academic institution, students, government institutions, companies and organisations together in a community where innovation, entrepreneurship and co-creation are key. Students at all levels of TU Delft (Bachelor, Master, PhD’s, PDEng’s) are encouraged to pitch their creative ideas and projects and further develop them into a feasible concept. Community building and co-creation with the business community is essential for this and of great added value for students at TU Delft as well as for companies and organisations belonging to the TU Delft Impact Contest’s partner network.

Maak impact met je slimme idee: schrijf je in voor de TU Delft Impact Contest!

Sinds 2019 biedt de TU Delft Impact Contest studenten de mogelijkheid om eigen, ingenieuze ideeën, prototypes en onderzoeksprojecten verder uit te werken tot businessplannen. Het belangrijkste doel is om studenten uit te dagen om geweldige, out-of-the-box innovatieve oplossingen voor maatschappelijke problemen te creëren en deze te vertalen naar echte producten en bedrijfsplannen, terwijl ze gebruik maken van de expertise van zeer deskundige partners. De kerst op de taart: er valt in totaal €20.000,- aan prijzengeld te verdienen, om je potentiële startup mee te lanceren.

Waarom je mee zou moeten doen

De contest is een ondernemers- en innovatiewedstrijd voor alle studenten van de TU Delft. TU Delft Campus en het TU Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship gebruiken de wedstrijd als middel om de academische instelling, studenten, overheidsinstellingen, bedrijven en organisaties samen te brengen in een community waar innovatie, ondernemerschap en co-creatie centraal staan. Studenten op alle niveaus van de TU Delft (Bachelor, Master, PhD’s, PDEng’s) worden aangemoedigd om hun creatieve ideeën en projecten te pitchen en verder uit te werken tot een haalbaar concept. Communitybuilding en co-creatie met het bedrijfsleven is daarvoor essentieel en van grote toegevoegde waarde voor zowel studenten aan de TU Delft als voor bedrijven en organisaties die behoren tot het partnernetwerk van de TU Delft Impact Contest.

The TU Delft community consists of colleagues and students from very diverse backgrounds. Are you familiar with the days that are important to your colleagues due to their culture, ethnicity, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation? The Diversity & Inclusion Office has created a calendar that shows all of these days to help you take them into account when planning a meeting or event or for other types of communication. It could even inspire you to organise something with other colleagues on such a day.

Kalender diversiteit & inclusion 2023

De TU Delft-gemeenschap bestaat uit collega’s en studenten met heel diverse achtergronden. Weet jij van al je collega’s welke dagen voor hen belangrijk zijn vanuit hun cultuur, etniciteit, religie, genderidentiteit of seksuele geaardheid? Het Diversity & Inclusion Office heeft een kalender gemaakt waarin je deze dagen kunt terugvinden. Je kunt hier dan rekening mee houden, bijvoorbeeld bij het plannen van vergaderingen, evenementen en andere communicatie. Of wellicht inspireert het je om samen met collega’s iets te organiseren op zo’n dag.

Je vindt de kalender hier. Ook onderwijs- en tentamenweken zijn er trouwens in opgenomen, wel zo handig. Naast de online kalender is er een fysieke kalender gemaakt.
