Each year, TU Delft’s eight faculties nominate their Best Graduate. During the TU Delft Best Graduate Award Ceremony, TU Delft together with Delft University Fund will proudly present eight brand-new engineers who can call themselves Best Graduate 2020 of their faculty. One of these eight nominees will receive the prestigious title TU Delft Best Graduate 2020.

We are aware of the current uncertainty regarding going abroad, and we cannot predict what the situation will be September 2021 regarding COVID-19. But.. one thing is for sure, if you are considering to go on exchange in September 2021, now is the time to inform yourself!

Information sessions 9-13 November 2020

There will be a central programme, organized by ESA Mobility Department, and faculty prorammes, which you can find by clicking on your own faculty block in the same page.

Have you completed the final part of your study? Please be aware that you need to send a request to terminate your enrolment through Studielink as it will not be done automatically. Tuition fees need to be paid up to and including the last month of your enrolment. Enrolment termination with retroactive effect is not possible.

The government has decided to introduce a temporary reinforcement for the next two weeks, on top of the current partial lockdown. Fortunately, there are no new measures for education. Unfortunately, libraries do have to close their doors. The good news is that this does not apply to our Library, because it is rightly considered a study environment.

The university will therefore continue to provide limited physical education on campus as planned, and actively seek more good study places, such as in the Library and at various organisations. We’re also applying the same measures we’ve had in place since the last press conference, namely:

• take responsibility, both for yourself and for others
• abide by the RIVM measures
• wear a face mask if you move around the campus and inside buildings
• follow the walking routes on campus.

The temporary aggravation mainly affects our leisure time. With our e-Health tool you can follow free, anonymous and independent programmes to get a better balance on your (study) life and to improve your mental health.

Het kabinet heeft besloten om voor de komende 2 weken, bovenop de huidige gedeeltelijke lockdown, een tijdelijke verzwaring in te stellen.

Voor het onderwijs zijn er gelukkig geen nieuwe maatregelen. De bibliotheken moeten helaas wel hun deuren sluiten, maar dit geldt niet voor onze Library, omdat die terecht als studieomgeving wordt gezien. We blijven dus beperkt fysiek onderwijs geven op de campus zoals gepland en zoeken actief mee naar meer goede studieplekken, zoals in de Library en bij verschillende organisaties. We hanteren verder dezelfde maatregelen sinds de vorige persconferentie, namelijk:

• neem je verantwoordelijkheid, voor jezelf en voor anderen
• houd je aan de RIVM-maatregelen
• draag een mondkapje als je je door de gebouwen heen verplaatst
• volg de looproutes in de gebouwen

De tijdelijke verzwaring heeft vooral invloed op  onze vrije tijd. Met onze e-Health tool kun je kosteloos, anoniem en zelfstandig programma’s volgen om meer grip op je (studie)leven te krijgen en om je mentale gezondheid te verbeteren.

The task-force ‘Student Well-being’, wanted to get a better insight into how you, students at the TU Delft are doing. Therefore, they invited you last June, after the academic year ended, to participate in a survey about well-being. A total of 2613 surveys were completed. The survey consisted not only of quantitative items, such as scales and checkboxes, but also qualitative items. The task-force made this blog, and aim to communicate their findings, how they got there, and what is up next.

De taskforce ‘Studentenwelzijn’ wilde een beter inzicht krijgen in hoe het met jullie studenten aan de TU Delft gaat. Daarom nodigden ze hen afgelopen juni, na afloop van het academiejaar, uit om deel te nemen aan een enquête over welzijn. In totaal zijn 2613 enquêtes ingevuld. Het onderzoek bestond niet alleen uit kwantitatieve items, zoals schalen en selectievakjes, maar ook uit kwalitatieve items. De taskforce heeft deze blog gemaakt en is bedoeld om hun bevindingen te communiceren, hoe ze daar zijn gekomen en wat er volgt.

On Monday 2 November, French schools will commemorate the attack on Samuel Paty and with that the attack on free and safe education. That is why the flags on Dutch university buildings, including those of TU Delft, will also be flying at half-mast. Pieter Duisenberg, President of the Association of Universities in the Netherlands: “The horrific murder of Samuel Paty unfortunately shows once again that we must continue to stress the importance of freedom of speech. This is a great good, certainly in education, for which we must all stand firm. Teachers worldwide must be able to do their job without fear or pressure.”

The P-Sports car park near building 71 on the Van Den Broekweg has recently been the scene of numerous car break-ins and damage. Also, people using the car park for other criminal activities cause a lot of nuisance. As a result, students, staff, visitors to the surrounding buildings and residents of the Green Village no longer feel safe in this area.

Although our own security, outsourced to G4S, has been intensified and the police as well as non-police enforcers have increased surveillance, this has not yet led to a reduction of the nuisance. That is why it has now been decided to install two high-resolution cameras from today 30 October. Images from these cameras can be made available to the police in order to track down perpetrators.

The cameras will be placed near the red dots in the image below. The blue arrow shows the entrance and the orange diamonds show the entrances and exits for pedestrians.

Camerabewaking bij Parkeerdek P-sport

Vanaf vrijdag 30 oktober worden er twee camera’s geplaatst bij het parkeerdek P-Sports bij gebouw 71 aan de Van Den Broekweg. Hiertoe is besloten omdat er de laatste tijd veel vernielingen aan auto’s en diefstallen plaatsvinden met flinke schade voor bezoekers van de campus als gevolg. Daarbij is er veel overlast door mensen die het parkeerdek gebruiken voor andere criminele activiteiten. Dit alles zorgt voor een gevoel van onveiligheid bij studenten, medewerkers en bezoekers van de omliggende gebouwen en bij de bewoners van de Green Village op onze campus.

Hoewel het eigen toezicht, dat door de TU Delft is uitbesteed aan G4S, geïntensiveerd is en ook de handhaving en de politie vaker surveilleren, is het nog niet gelukt om de diefstallen en het overlast terug te dringen. Daarom is er nu voor gekozen om twee hoge resolutie camera’s te plaatsen. De beelden worden eventueel ter beschikking van de politie gesteld om de daders op te sporen.

De camera’s worden geplaatst bij de rode stippen op onderstaande afbeelding. De blauwe pijl geeft de ingang weer en de oranje ruiten geven de in- en uitgangen voor voetgangers weer.
