Compulsory wearing of face masks

The COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act will enter into force from December 1st. It covers matters such as the compulsory wearing of face masks in indoor public spaces such as shops, museums, restaurants and theatres. The government will say more about this in the near future.

Testing

From 1 December 2020 you will be able to get a test if you have no symptoms but are at an increased risk of having been infected. For example, if the CoronaMelder app sends you a notification about an infection risk, or if you have been identified as part of contact tracing efforts. From the moment you are notified you will need to self-isolate. After five days you can be tested. If the result is negative you no longer need to self-isolate.

Mondkapjes dragen verplicht 

Vandaag, 1 december 2020 gaat de tijdelijke wet maatregelen COVID-19 in. Dan gaat onder andere een mondkapjesplicht gelden in publieke binnenruimtes zoals winkels, musea, restaurants en theaters. Het kabinet zal daar binnenkort verder over communiceren.

Corona test

Vanaf vandaag kan iemand ook getest worden als hij of zij geen klachten heeft, maar wel risico heeft gelopen op een besmetting. Dus als de CoronaMelder-app een melding geeft over een besmettingsrisico, of als iemand naar voren komt uit het bron- en contactonderzoek. Vanaf dat moment gaat diegene in quarantaine. Na 5 dagen kan hij of zij zich laten testen en bij een negatieve test kan de quarantaine worden opgeheven.

The ‘TU Delft Online Proctored Examination’ regulation has been updated. In the regulation you will find what responsibilities lecturers and students have in using and participating in this assessment method. You will also find more information about privacy and data security and where you as teacher and/or student can go with questions.

The update consist of an opt-out option from online proctored exams for the mid-term with a deadline of 3 December 2020. If more than 30 students per day request this option, the option is cancelled for everyone.

De ‘TU Delft Online Proctored Examination’ regeling is geupdatet. In de regeling staat welke verantwoordelijkheden docenten en studenten hebben in het gebruik van en deelname aan deze toetsmethode. Ook vind je meer informatie over privacy en gegevensbeveiliging en waar je als docent en/of student terecht kunt met vragen.

De update bestaat uit een opt-out-mogelijkheid van online proctor-examens van december 2020. De deadline hiervan is van 3 december 2020. Als meer dan 30 studenten per dag deze optie aanvragen, wordt de optie voor iedereen geannuleerd.

The task-force ‘Student Well-being’, wanted to get a better insight into how you, students at the TU Delft are doing. Therefore, they invited you last June, after the academic year ended, to participate in a survey about well-being. A total of 2613 surveys were completed. The survey consisted not only of quantitative items, such as scales and checkboxes, but also qualitative items. The task-force made this blog, and aim to communicate their findings, how they got there, and what is up next.

De taskforce ‘Studentenwelzijn’ wilde een beter inzicht krijgen in hoe het met jullie studenten aan de TU Delft gaat. Daarom nodigden ze hen afgelopen juni, na afloop van het academiejaar, uit om deel te nemen aan een enquête over welzijn. In totaal zijn 2613 enquêtes ingevuld. Het onderzoek bestond niet alleen uit kwantitatieve items, zoals schalen en selectievakjes, maar ook uit kwalitatieve items. De taskforce heeft deze blog gemaakt en is bedoeld om hun bevindingen te communiceren, hoe ze daar zijn gekomen en wat er volgt.

On Monday 2 November, French schools will commemorate the attack on Samuel Paty and with that the attack on free and safe education. That is why the flags on Dutch university buildings, including those of TU Delft, will also be flying at half-mast. Pieter Duisenberg, President of the Association of Universities in the Netherlands: “The horrific murder of Samuel Paty unfortunately shows once again that we must continue to stress the importance of freedom of speech. This is a great good, certainly in education, for which we must all stand firm. Teachers worldwide must be able to do their job without fear or pressure.”

Over Time Out:

Time Out is een rauwe en ongepolijste weerspiegeling van de realiteit waartoe studenten en jongeren zich nu moeten verhouden.

Eerst was er stress door de maatschappelijke verwachting om voortdurend aan te staan, te excelleren en te presteren. Geen ruimte meer om jong te zijn; uit te proberen, te falen, te  en fouten te leren maken. Je moet de beste, de leukste, de snelste, de slimste zijn. Wie die norm bedacht had weet niemand meer.

En toen kwam corona.

We zitten in een ongevraagde time out die ironisch genoeg veel stress en paniek oplevert. Daarom is er deze speciale editie van het Time Out event, op 2 november in het ITA. Studenten maken deel uit van de voorstelling waarbij ze zich ongefilterd kunnen laten horen. Live op het podium èn online met een allesbehalve statische livestream gaan de makers van Time Out het gesprek aan met jongeren, bestuurders, beleidsmakers en politici. Live en via de livestream.

Uit onderzoek van EenVandaag van september blijkt dat 74% van jongeren kampen met psychische problemen als onzekerheid, eenzaamheid en stress door corona.

We gaan het er over hebben en laten jongeren aan het woord met hun verhalen, ideeën en oplossingen voor een gezond, waardevol en stabiel studentenleven.

The increasing number of infections has forced the government to carry out a partial lockdown. Unfortunately, new additional measures are again needed to reduce the number of infections. Educational activities are not being curtailed any further and we are pleased with that. NB: the new measures do however urgently recommend wearing face masks in public indoor areas. 

We, therefore, ask all students and staff to wear face masks on campus when moving through common areas in buildings. This means upon entering when moving between spaces and when leaving a building. Once you are sitting in a lecture hall or workspace, you may remove your face mask.

Yesterday, a student campaign started in which the Delft student associations jointly address all students about their responsibility with regard to Corona, with the aim of preventing further contamination and thus ensuring that the city does not enter complete lockdown.

Gisteren is de studentencampagne gestart waarbij de Delftse studentenverenigingen gezamenlijk alle studenten aanspreken op hun verantwoordelijkheid m.b.t. Corona met als doel om verdere besmettingen te voorkomen en daarmee te zorgen dat de stad niet in volledige lockdown komt.

An appeal to students in Delft by mayor Marja van Bijsterveldt: abide by the rules and come up with alternative formats for new students to get to to know your student house during the Owee and the IP.
