Webinar on ‘Biotechnology and Agricultural Residues’

From 6-12 October, the second edition of the European Biotech Week will take place. Biotech Associations, academic and government institutions, science museums, media and companies organize events across Europe. In the Netherlands, DSM together with Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), The Bioprocess Pilot Facility – BPF, Corbion, BE-Basic and HollandBio have joined forces to organize and host a webinar entitled ‘Biotechnology and Agricultural residues’.

Het TU Delft Solar Boat Team is op zoek naar enthousiaste studenten die ons willen helpen met het optimaliseren van de huidige boot. Met deze zonneboot op draagvleugels hebben we afgelopen zomer de 4e plaats behaald in de World Cup For Solar Powered Boats. We hebben echter nog niet alles wat mogelijk is uit de boot gehaald. De volledige kracht van het draagvleugelconcept willen we graag demonstreren tijdens het NK zonnebootracen in mei aankomend jaar! Dit is alleen mogelijk met jouw hulp, want we zijn op zoek naar een full-time management (Team Manager, Technical Manager, Promotion & Operations).

TU Delft Solar Boat Team is looking for enthusiastic students who like to help us to optimize the current boat. Automatisch je studieresultaten ontvangen

Vanaf 26 september is er, op verzoek van de studentenraad, een nieuwe tool beschikbaar in OSIRIS. Het is dan mogelijk om in https://e-service.tudelft.nl/ aan te geven of je een automatisch bericht wenst te ontvangen als er een nieuw studieresultaat wordt geregistreerd in OSIRIS.
De functionaliteit kan je in E-service vinden in het (nieuwe) kader Studentvoorkeuren bijna onderaan de pagina. Vink daar je keuze aan en leg deze vast met Wijziging opslaan.
Heb je vragen over https://e-service.tudelft.nl/ dan kan je contact opnemen met het Servicepunt op jouw faculteit.

Receive automatic notifications about your study results

From 26 September, a new tool will be available in OSIRIS following a request by the Student Council. It will be possible to indicate in https://e-service.tudelft.nl/ whether you would like to receive automatic notification whenever you have had a new study result registered in OSIRIS.
You can find the functionality in E-service in the new ‘Student Preferences’ section near the bottom of the page. Check your choice and then click on Save Changes.

Interested to hear idea’s worth spreading? Well you are in luck! The TEDxDelft Award is on its way!

The TEDxDelft Award is an award which provides students and PHD candidates a platform where they can share their idea. The award is not only a onetime event, but a complete track! Within this track there are several workshops which are meant to help participants develop their idea and their pitching skills! In the final, the different pitches will compete for the award and a wildcard giving the winner the chance to spread his/her idea at TEDxDelft 2015! An event with an audience of over a thousand people! Curious? Check out our facebook for more information and previous events!

TU Delft Library’s Language Library has been renewed. The collection now consists of more than 150 translated books of Dutch literature. It contains over 35 different languages, ranging from Chinese to Macedonian and Greek to Russian.

Learn more about the Dutch culture
This collection gives international students and staff from TU Delft the chance to get more acquainted with the Dutch culture by reading books from popular Dutch authors like Maarten ‘t Hart, Tessa de Loo and Joost Zwagerman. If you are learning Dutch you can simultaneously read the book in your language and in Dutch. The Language Library can be found near red and black train benches as of 2 October.

Come to the opening!
On Wednesday 1 October 2014 the renewed Language Library will be opened festively with language workshops and drinks. The opening will start at 17:00 in the Hive. More information

This new Language Library is the result of a cooperation between the Dutch Foundation for Literature, the TU Delft Library and Tandem Delft.

Harry Mulisch in het Italiaans? Anna Enquist in het Chinees? Vanaf 2 oktober kun je deze en meer lezen in de vernieuwde Language Library bij TU Delft Library.

Leer lezenderwijs een andere taal
Ben je bezig een nieuwe taal te leren? Dan kun je deze Nederlandse boeken in een andere taal gaan lezen met de Nederlandse uitvoering ernaast. Deze nieuwe collectie bevat Nederlandse boeken vertaald in 35 talen. De Language Library kun je vanaf 2 oktober vinden bij de treinbanken in de hal.

Kom naar de opening!
Op woensdag 1 oktober 2014 wordt de vernieuwde Language Library feestelijk geopend met taalworkshops en drankjes. De opening zal om 17:00 beginnen in The Hive. Meer informatie

Deze nieuwe Language Library is het resultaat van de samenwerking tussen het Nederlands Letterenfonds, TU Delft Library en Tandem Delft.

Voor het collegejaar 2014-2015 zijn er weer vier ICT-onderhoudsweekenden vastgesteld:

Doe mee aan de vijfdelige cursus Photoshop-Indesign-Illustrator die op 15 september 2014 van start gaat bij TU Delft Library!

Schrijf je snel in

Met deze cursus leer je in vijf avonden werken met de Adobe-programma’s Photoshop, Indesign en Illustrator. De cursusdata zijn maandag 15, 22 & 29 september en 6 & 13 oktober 2014. De cursus kost € 60 en is uitsluitend voor studenten. Je kunt alleen inschrijven als je direct betaalt.

Vanaf 1 september krijg jij misschien wel, als je geen eerstejaarsstudent bent, (werk)college of tentamen in Gebouw 2 Centrum, het voormalig legermuseum. Best bijzonder dat we dit pand tijdelijk kunnen huren van het Rijksvastgoedbedrijf. Je krijgt tenslotte niet elke dag college in een pand dat in de 16e eeuw een locatie voor de opslag van militaire goederen was en tevens een pakhuis van de VOC is geweest. Het is een van de maatregelen die het CvB heeft genomen om te zorgen dat we voldoende goede onderwijsruimtes hebben de komende jaren. De studentenaantallen nemen immers nog steeds toe.
